a-dawg. Falling In Love With The Board ![]() Age: 31 Gender: Female Posts: 7070 | Peardrops:Well, all anyone needed to do was to glance at the websites to see, "OMFG IANTO'S TORCH WENT UP WHEN JACK CAME OVER AND THEY LOOKED AT EACH OTHER AND OMFG SUBTEXT." [I speak, of course, of the wonderful moment in episode 108, They Keep Killing Suzie - a great episode for Janto - when Ianto went all techgod and saved the world, with some memorable prop movement. 'Twas the spawning of about a thousand icons.] |

a-dawg. Falling In Love With The Board ![]() Age: 31 Gender: Female Posts: 7070 | Phoenix Wright:Aww. I'd never hurt you. There was a really good discussion on Jack/Gwen v. Janto on torch_wood: "This is in regards to some... ah, ship wars, that have sprouted up lately. Spoilers for Season Two obviously.... There's been a lot of ranting and debating and frothing at the mouth about a few scenes in the last episode, and I can understand why. It's been a year since the last episode and we all had our own visions of what was and how it should be, views on the characters and so on and they're... clashing. I'll have to admit, I'm not entirely innocent, I had a few gut reactions too - and we've probably all been feeding off each other and making it all a tad louder. Which is never useful. So, I figured I'd try and be... diplomatic (daughter of a politician, can't ye tell?). I'm a Jack/Ianto slasher through and through, but I also came to Torchwood via Doctor Who. Doctor Who in which Jack is, well... any thing with a hole is not exactly subtle. The first time I saw 'that' scene I was going 'oh my god' and shaking my head, wondering why on earth the episode had seemed to take a step back. BUT, once I sat down and thought about it, what I got was this: As for the Jack/Gwen stuff.... well on Jack's side I just roll my eyes because it's Jack and flirting is default position, comes naturally as breathing and doesn't necessarily mean anything. But on Gwen's side? Yeah, bonkers. I get the feeling that though she does like Rhys, loves him even, she's never going to be truly happy with him, and will continue to look at various Torchwood men. That was taken off of a comment of mine on a friend's LJ. And, for the time ignoring Gwen (though I'll get back to her) with Jack... we need to remember he's more than what we saw in the first season of TW. He's a born flirt, when he's in the right situation (aka, there's someone he trusts to take responsibility and leadership, or he's not leading a team) saying hello IS flirting. The Doctor's told him off for it enough times, we all know it. So what we need to not do is get frustrated at him or anything he says when he's doing that. Especially as he seems a bit more comfortable with himself this season. Or at least reign in our ire to more reasonable levels. Now, back to Gwen. I'll admit, she is not my favorite character. I think in some ways it's because I had such high hopes for her, and second... I shall not get into it, but you can guess from the above. And the main focus of scorn amongst Jack/Ianto fans when it comes to these scenes. Someone (I presume a Gwen fan) said that if Jack turned that charm onto any one of us, we'd be all wide eyed and flustered too. And that is something we must consider, and mustn't forget. Put ourselves in her shoes, how many of us could react completely cool? Not many, and not me. It's not something I thought of first, my defaults being what they are. And I know there are other things that get us, get me too. The fact that she said no one else would have her (which could have been a joke, though odd timing) aside and the 'tell Jack I' on the roof when... and I'm not going to not be annoyed about this, her last words should have been for Rhys... We should calm down (which I think we're starting to do now) and try to be less hostile. All indications are, Gwen will stay loyal to Rhys (which is good, they're cute, and Rhys is a good bloke. And, thinking about it, kind of reminds me of my brother-in-law-to-be) this season, and there will be more Jack/Ianto (which will please all us slashers who hardly ever get their pairing as cannon, and may be a bit defensive here because of that, keep in mind). We should also try and look at it from the other's point of view. Though I don't like Gwen (though I don't hate her), she isn't to fault for every thing that goes on. And I'm not sure how non J/I fans see us, but the pairing is not all evil either, and its fans are aware that not everything revolves around those two characters. We don't hate all the other characters either - I want to see more Tosh, and I'm looking forward to seeing how Owen and Gwen develop this season. And, honestly, I think Jack and Gwen could potentially have a great, if slightly quirky, friendship which would be fun to see, any one else agree with me on that at least? In short, we all need to think a bit past our gut reactions. Consider the characters, what they're like, and put ourselves in their places for a moment. And try to stop feeding each other into a frenzy. PS - I also hope I'm wrong about the never be happy bit, because I hope she will be, but given her relationship with Owen last year, and I tend to get rather annoyed on Rhys' behalf even though I'm not a a giant Rhys fan. (ETA: As in, I've no icons of his bum *g*) PPS- I know this is a bit late, but I've been meaning to say it since last night. And given what some people are apparently doing... I thought it worth saying." |

Diskoh Falling In Love With The Board ![]() Age: 34 Gender: Female Posts: 8701 ![]() | Wow I agree with all that. I don't mind other people liking Janto, I'm fine with it. But I am upset about the whole Gwen getting married to Rhys and not being free for Jack. Yet she wasn't free when she shagged Owen. Meh. She's not my favourite character. My favourite pairing other then the high hopes I have for Jack/Gwen are Tosh/Owen. ![]() And I have to agree with you... Tosh/Jack sounds great. ![]() Especially that ending of that Tosh-lesbian episode where they cuddle. ![]() |
*muffin_girl* Jackass ![]() Age: 34 Gender: Female Posts: 1066 | (I know its late but....) """In one of the early episodes of the second series, Ianto has a meltdown in the Hub one night, for reasons far too complicated to go into here, but if you've seen it, you'll know. I have to admit it's one of my favourite episodes to date. Anyway, while Jack comforts Ianto, he shifts from innocent consolation to a full-on, passionate embrace and kiss. Gareth and I assumed 'the position' and went for it. The episode's director never called 'cut'. By the time Gareth and I were hitting the two-minute mark, my lips were getting numb and Gareth was getting twitchy. 'You ******!" we both yelled in unison, when we finally realized what was going on and pulled apart.""" OMG!!!!! When I saw that i nearly Squeeee'd very loudly and im in a packed library in college; not a good idea... I'd better get to see all two minutes of that somepoint soon. ![]() I am liking Ianto a hell of alot more since the beginning... his character is really developing brilliantly... nice lot of sarcasm coming from him recently. ![]() I wanna see more of Tosh though... Not just cos shes fit..... ![]() and twitchy eh?.... sex twitchy?... ![]() |

a-dawg. Falling In Love With The Board ![]() Age: 31 Gender: Female Posts: 7070 | Phoenix Wright:She just irritated me a lot last year with the whole crying and bitchiness with Owen. I quite like Gwen/Rhys. They're sweet. I kinda think that her and Jack wouldn't be good together because they care about each other so much. With Jack and Ianto, there's the constant possibility of them being dickheads to each other. Or, Jack being a dickhead to Ianto. I kinda like Tosh/Jack. And I really want Tosh/Owen. Owen seems a lot nicer now. Also, I kinda like Tosh/Ianto. |
a-dawg. Falling In Love With The Board ![]() Age: 31 Gender: Female Posts: 7070 | John Barrowman on the subject of stopwatches. Oh God. "Parental advisory as John Barrowman talks stopwatches, specifically those belonging to Ianto. "What I'm saying," John tells Berriman, "Is if you had a stopwatch and you clicked the timer, it's to see how quickly you could... Come on! Do I have to spell it out for ya? They're probably beating the baloney to see who can spurt quicker! Like you've all never done it!"" ![]() ![]() Also, there will be a full thirteen episodes, and here's some brief summaries for the full series. Not very spoilery, but if you really hate spoilers then look away now! All the episodes look fantastic. 1: "Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang" Written by Chris Chibnall, Directed by Ashley Way "Guest starring the one-and-only James Marsters. Also featuring our first on-screen depiction of the infamous rift." 2: "Sleeper" Written by James Moran, Directed by Colin Teague "Script editor Brian Minchin tipped us off about James Moran, having seen his movie Severance. [It] gives Kai Owen a starring role." 5: "Adam" Written by Catherine Tregenna, Directed by Andy Goddard "It's a story that puts the team, and Rhys, through the wringer, offers our first glimpse of the Boeshane Peninsula and asks: do our memories make us who we are?" 6: "Reset" Written by JC Wilsher, Directed by Ashley Way "Freema Agyeman joins Torchwood for three episodes, starting with this conspiracy thriller which has far-reaching consequences. All this and Alan Dale." 7: TBC Written by Matt Jones, Directed by Andy Goddard "A dark and scary tale pits Torchwood against their most terrifying adversary to date. Plus, more Weevils than you've ever seen and a derelict church packed with all manner of creepy stuff..." 8: TBC Written by Joseph Lidster, Directed by Andy Goddard "Richard Briers bit our collective hand off to play Parker, a dying recluse who has something that Torchwood want." 9: TBC Written by Phil Ford, Directed by Ashley Way "A fun filled romp with a dark edge. At a very important Cardiff wedding, not every guest has been invited." 10: TBC Written by PJ Hammond, Directed by Jonathan Fox Basset "A spooky circus; a reel of film that won't stop playing; and a serial killer in Cardiff. Bizarre and unsettling, this guest stars Julian Bleach and Camilla Power." 11: TBC Written by Chris Chibnall, Directed by Mark Everest "Gwen's old colleague, PC Andy, badgers her to take on an unsolved police case.
