my parents were always very open with me, so thats good.
i think my schooling went a bit OTT on the whole sex ed thing. we were doing stuff about sex from year 5 (i was about 10, but i dont know how that translates for you americans) which i think was going a bit far. ive done it every year since then, the whole kaboodle. no one i went to school with is ignorant of sex in any sense of the word. it is an important thing to know about, but perhaps not so much that early.
thats a shame, you would all be so much better at spelling
YOU PUT A U IN COLOR WTF STEPH! W.T.F
...right.
So in our school, I believe the extent that we go to for sex ed is the technical details and Myth Busters type of deal in a semester-long health class. I'm all for a mandatory, semester-long sex ed class. There's a great deal to cover that you can't get to in health because you're learning randomness about vaccines and doing reports from the Internet. Rrr.
And am I the only one who thinks the sex ed approach from "The Girl Next Door" was not only hilarious, it was an idea worth trying?

I never saw that movie. What did they do?
Isn't The Girl Next Door that awful movie with Elisha Cuthbert where she's a porn star but doesn't want to be known as a porn star?
I don't think their sex ed approach (making a more modern sex ed video, one that could relate to teens) was exactly appropriate.

Well, it wasn't entirely appropriate, but it's an idea worth pondering. It's really cheesy having to watch some girl from the 80s tell her best friend she started shaving her legs, or just had her period, and then later watch her meet a boy who just told his best friend that he's had wet dreams or something. and then watch them have sexual urges until a responsible adult sits them down and explains everything as they smile and nod and take some condoms. It's dumb.
If the videos were, y'know, less corny, more interesting with more real life details and stuff from our age, people might actually want to watch them. but i'm not saying we should get porn stars in them and stuff. Also, watching a condom be put on a strange penis would be pretty disturbing.

I don't think making a modern sex tape for kids to watch to inform them on sex is a good idea. Yes, the old videos are cheesy, and I think that learning from a teacher talking about sex is better than a video. Having a less lame video about teens and sex wouldn't exactly work out, at least not like that movie portrayed anyway.

There is no proper way for someone to learn about sex.
did I miss something? Cuz I never knew that porn could be a good thing...
Well.. I wouldn't say that you missed something, simply that you're close minded. we can't talk about it here, its off topic, I'll make a thread on pornography.
I like looking at nude pictures of Dita Von Teese (and Marilyn Manson + Twiggy in Honcho) as much as the next person but porn's main function is to desensitize people to sex
WE PUT CONDOMS ON BANANAS! And then our teacher taught us how to put them on with our mouths. She also gave each of us a box of strawberry flavoured ones to lick.

...Or maybe we were actually supposed to use them...I don't know.
