I don't like 'punk' music.

Old or new.

Sex Pistols, Ramones, Stiff Little Fingers, UK Subs, Buzzcocks, the Clash, DK, the Damned etc... heideroosjes =P
there's some more I like but I on't know enough songs to be "into them"
anyway so I guess old =P

I also like "new" bands I like but it's all kinda different from early punk
I often call new stuff rock though...

The best punk band of all time were and always will be The Clash.

I'm not going to say what punk bands are good nowadays because it brings about too many arguments over who fits into what genre: pop-punk, emo, hardcore, post-hardcore, thrash BLAHBLAHBLAH So I'm just going to say this: go buy Hidden World by Fucked Up. It will blow your mind.

Smart person talk. Fizz

I like the old and the new. Of course, if you are talking about todays mainstream punk, I don't like those bands at all, except Green Day [without debates if they are punk or no]. There are some really good underground bands today and some are awesome just like the old ones. There is always rubbish music among the old tunes and the new ones. But the conclusion is that I adore both. If its good music who cares, right?

Five I agree completely.

I definetely like more old than new. So much new "punk" is missing the meaning and feeling that punk used to have and it's just called punk cause it's angry and has three chords.

I agree wholeheartedly.

And also, it is hard to define what's "punk" any more, it's more of something that you just know when you hear it...but the old stuff was great. I know more of the London/general UK bands but I'm starting to listen to the L.A. stuff...Germs, Circle Jerks, etc, and it's classic.

There's some but you REALLY have to search to find it. Or at least that's my take on it.

Punk was meant to be like, a movement, something new. So yeah, I think it was only ever punk the first time round.
That's just my opinion though.

But yeah, music-wise, old-school punk is the best.

I adore them. Fizz

And Kristy's right, it isn't dead. It's just not easily accessible unless you really want to find it. Obviously it's not the first punk movement any more, that's long over, but I think as long as there's even one band with the right spirit punk's not really dead. *is idealistic*
