.This thread is called the war on Christmas; I think the war against all celebrations deserves to be acknowledged.
btw Sruti, half of that post had nothing to do with what you even said. I just needed to rant. And Now I feel better
I realized.
But that's such an oxymoron. A war on celebrations? How....utterly retarded. One of the few respects in which I feel India is better than the US is religious acceptance. I mean, yes riots break out every now and then, Hindus blame Muslims, Muslims blame Hindus, etc, but in the end it's all peaceful. When Diwali comes, Hindus, Muslims, Christians and everyone break out the fireworks and during Ramzan, everyone eats Haleem and at Christmastime, people wander around all jolly and singing Jingle Bells.
The only reason to stop someone from celebrating anything is if they're celebrating something illegal, like eating children. But I don't think anyone celebrates that anyway.

I went to Catholic School aswell shadow of a doubt.
Hmm..my view on christmas is that its a time for like families to get together and have a great time, I, myself think its stupid to go around or check if a person is offended by me having christmas lights outside of my house, along with people celebrating christmas without even knowing the true meaning of it.

On the news they call it the war against Christmas, so that why I called it that.
I know I suck at debating and explain things, but whatever. It seems like people are always pointing out stuff about me or what I say and I already know that it makes no sense. (for instance that sentence made no sense). Maybe I should give up on debating.
I'm spamming, sorry.

You know, my African History teacher was talking about Washington D.C. during December, and he said that it was absolutely beautiful there during this season because of all the lights. He said that every religion imaginable was represented somehow, in some way, shape or form.
And I kinda wish things were like that everywhere, not just the capital.

I would have included other religions, but I don't hear about people trying to stop other religions' holidays.

I get your point. I think it's the fact that Christmas is just so commercial and it's become part of the culture, so obviously there's more issues with it than other religions.

I think that's very true. But, I don't think that all of the commercialism and "remodling" of this holiday should upset people. If you celebrate Christmas for Jesus Christ, then the holiday happening should be good enough- it should be more than good. It's about you and your beliefs, in my opinion.

I found some articles, in our newspaper, that people wrote:
Where I live most people are Christian or Catholic, in fact we have churches every where so it is no surprise that people are saying things like this.

Oh my God not that Winterfest rubbish!
Winterfest was a business initivative in Liverpool or Birmingham or something eleven years ago. For one year. One year.
Why do they keep bringing that up?

I shouldn't think so. It's their property, and they should be allowed to do whatever they want on it.
