 | May 24th, 2007 at 04:43pm My school is, I'd say, about 60% white, 40% of other culture. Which is I guess pretty okay for a catholic school.
And there is absolutely no racism....well from what I know, at least. |

 | May 24th, 2007 at 06:17pm Well, schools are public. So anyone can go. Maybe because there aren't many different cultured people in the area. At least, thats what its like for here. |

| May 24th, 2007 at 07:37pm My town is 97% white, so it's not a huge suprise that my school has like, three black kids and a couple asian kids. It's not a racial thing, it's just that there aren't that many other kids in the town. |

| May 26th, 2007 at 09:40pm NeoSteph:I think it's unfair to label something ''racial'' you have to look at what area you live in, if you live in a largely white populated town then obviously your school with be white dominated.
Where as if you live in a black dominated town, it's going to have the opposite effect.
My school is 99 percent white populated but it's not because it's racial, but Plymouth in general is a very white british city.
I agree, my school is mostly white people but, in the city it is mostly African-American people. It just depends on where you live. |

But that was because our town was 96% white. |

 | May 28th, 2007 at 02:23am our school is all white, but we just dont have ANY representatives of other races here in our town, at least not any kids, and in the capital city i've only seen maximum three african americans and a few asians, but thats cause we just dont have many immigrants from so far away. |

I think I see the same like five daily.
We have one black teacher and we get no problems with racist acts.
I've been made fun off for being white though.
But I just shrug. |

Age: 35 Gender: Female Posts: 17669 | May 31st, 2007 at 07:55pm My secondary school was probably 75% white and then 25% other cultures, but once I got to college it was more like 50% white and 50% other cultures, because we had more kids coming out from the inner city, and there's a larger number of people from other cultures there.
I don't think it matters how many there are of each 'type' of person, as long as no one is being discriminated against then it shouldn't make a difference. Just because there were only 2 people with ginger hair in my old school, it didn't mean my school was prejudiced against ginger people, it just meant that there weren't many ginger people who applied to go there. |

 | June 5th, 2007 at 02:46pm Well, you can't really say that a school is racist if certain race kids choose not to go there for whatever reason. And when you're in a very unmixed country, you can't say that's racist either. Like if you live in Asia and go "Oh, we're racist, we have no white people." Of course you don't. A lot of schools in Asia don't have white people, except at "international schools".
And you can't say that a public school doesn't allow a certain race. Public schools have no say in that. And if a private school refuses to admit a child due to race, religion, etc, then that can be taken to court and most likely will be taken to court. I went to a private school up till kindergarten, but I don't remember a whole lot. I think there were only two Indians, including me. It was mostly white and a few Spanish kids, I think.
I went to a public school from 1st to eighth grade. I lived in a pretty mixed town. Asians, South Asians, blacks, whites, Hispanics, whatever. There was never any racism. |

 | June 17th, 2007 at 11:56am yeah and anouther thing is that often white people can afford private schools and alot of other races can't, I think it is important for private schools to offer scholerships to make the schools more diverse. |

It's not just white famillies that can afford private school...the only girl who went to private school after our primary school was Indian, in a school that was 99% white. |
