The 2007 Grammy Awards
Green Day lost the award for Best Hard Rock Performance With Vocal to the Red Hot Chili Peppers for Dani California at the 49th Annual Grammy Awards this past Sunday, February 11, 2007. The category seems to have been considered a “low standard”, as it wasn't even aired during the live show. Green Day also didn't show up for attendence at the show, though lucky for them. The entire show consisted of bad timing, surprising winners and odd rememberances.
Hopefully Green Day's next album will be released before the special party of the 50th Annual Grammy Awards, next year.
In other news, the studio that worked on the Saints music video won an award of their own for their contributions towards the video's documentary-like images and videos of the disaster of Hurricaine Katrina in New Orleans:
“For this video, SWAY's talented team integrated many photo-real CG elements, including Harrier jets, Apache helicopters, Stealth Bombers and tanks into existing news footage from Hurricane Katrina, resulting in a thought-provoking and emotional video that illustrates what it might have looked like had the government responded differently to the disaster.”
There is an article about it available at Broadcastnewsroom.com. Also included in the article are some new HQ performance photos.
They didn't even show the Grammys here in Australia...so I guess I didn't miss too much. On Monday afternoon (so Sunday American time) I looked up the Grammy results, and sure, I was disappointed that Green Day and U2 didn't win - they're two of my favourite bands.
But I also noticed that RHCP won a lot of stuff at the Grammys - so Green Day and U2 did have a lot of competition. And I guess Green Day and U2 weren't performing as, believe it or not, Justin Timberlake must be much popular at the moment. Sounds stupid, but its possible. Apart from this, the only song Green Day has released lately was SAC with U2, and its not doing as well as JT on the charts. Which, really really REALLY sucks.
So, hopefully next year Green Day will be out and about again, making some new records.
But they should receive recognition in other ways than awards - we love them for who they are, not how many awards they've won.

I guess we're being a little unfair, we just think Green Day really deserved to win.

And, for the record, I know you all may not "care" about this and that.. but maybe that's because you aren't a fan. Yes?
Well what if you were? Maybe THEIR fans like it. Seriously. Think about others, yeah? It's not like they run the show around what you want.

The easiest way to check to see if the band will be there is to go to wireimage.com and look them up. Usually those attending the award show will be at the pre-parties.

I agree with Demonic_HeartGrenade. I mean, I sat there watching the WHOLE thing just to see if Green Day was gonna be there, and all I watched was pointless stuff. I mean, Justin Timberlake didn't need to perform twice, that whole "vote for the person to sing with Justin Timberlake" thing was pointless, and everyone else didn't need to be on stage a million times like the Dixie Chicks, Mary J Blage (however you spell it), and others. That was plain stupid. They should've let the other nominies and stuff air on televison instead of the repeated people. Even though the whole thing was a disappointment , I'm happy that Green Day weren't there to see it. They were smart to stay home and work on their new album and spend time with their families rather than waste it at the Grammys. Hopefully next year's Grammys will be worth watching.

I think Sting has always been a show off, and I wasn't too enthusiastic about The Police reunion. I hope next years Grammys aren't as hyped up. I mean, there's always a bit of hype surrounding the Grammys, but at least they should make it worth our while to watch the freakin' show.

Yeah! Justin Timberlake is WAY overrated! And what's up with James Blunt? How many machines do they have to put his voice through before it sounds good??
Demonic., February 13th, 2007 at 05:43:16pm
Why couldn't they have let GD and U2 sing instead of Justin Timberlake twice!?

I agree, the Grammys were disorganized. And Gnarls Barkley ticked me off COMPLETELY just by being there. Also, the whole My Grammy Moment competition was all a bunch of hype. I don't freakin' CARE who gets to sing with Justin Timberlake! And I think the Dixie Chicks don't deserve so much recognition for one comment about Bush. Green Day says more stuff about Bush! And the stuff they say is more relevant than "We're ashamed to be from the same state as Bush." I think the Dixie Chicks are just taking advantage of the trouble they brewed up.
I hope Green Day gets the awards they deserve for their next album. I'm sure they have some great new material.
