You're the best thing in town, chapter 7

Jacky's Point of View

"Brendon? What's goin-" I stopped talking. I looked at him.

He promised me this wouldn't happen. How could he do this to me?

"J-lyn I-" Brendon said. I slapped him across the face before he could finish.
I felt a tear roll off my cheek, and I ran upstairs

I needed to go somewhere. Get away from here.

So I got in my car and started pulling out of the driveway, when Brendon chased the car. I just kept driving, leaving him there. I was going to get my room at the hotel back.

When I arrived, I got Room 207. I started walking towards the elevators, when some girls from my highschool noticed me, and started following me, for some strange reason. I guess they wanted to beat me up, if I didn't let them into my house to meet my dad. Just like old times. I guess it didn't make a difference that I ran away. That's why they say to never run away from your problems. They come back to haunt you, and they're haunting me right now. The girls were Claire, Jess, Teresa, Taylor, and some girl who looked like she didn't want to be here. So I got into the elevator, when one of them, Claire, the leader of the posse, finally spoke.

"Hey, aren't you that chick that ran away from home, and is now marrying Brendon Urie?" Claire said.

"Yeah, that's me. And you're not meeting my father."

"We don't like Green Day anymore. We love Brendon Urie, though, so maybe you can let us meet him."

"No, how 'bout that," I said.

"Well, why don't you meet my fist?" Claire said.

Is that what people thought of me? I got off at my floor and called the three people I trust: Sammy, Jon, and Aurora. I decided to call Jon first. Then came the tears.

"Hello?" came a voice on the phone.

"Hey, it's Jacky," I replied. I sniffled a bit, so I think he heard me.

"Hey Jack, what's wrong?"

"I slapped Brendon because he broke is promise, but I didn't mean to, and I don't think he loves me anymore. And the girls that beat me in highschool found me in an elevator, but I got out before they could do anything."

"Wow," Jon said.

"I know. I so confused and tired," I said.

"Well, take it easy. And I gotta go. I have a job," Jon said.

"Okay, see ya," I said. Then the door was kicked down.

He found me?

I got up and opened the doors to find the group of girls from the elevator.

"I overheard Brendon doesen't love you anymore," the red-head said.

"You were spying? You are just like you were in highschool, Claire!" I said.

"Yeah, well whatever. Now let us in so we can meet him."

"Well, you can't," I said, "because he's not he-" The girl cut me off.

"Will this change you mind?" Jess screamed, and they all started punching me, except for the other girl that I don't know. She ran away.

"Somebody go catch Steph, she ran away. Jess and Taylor, throw her in the closet." The girls took my arms and legs and threw me in a closet. Then they all took turns beating me up.

"What do we do next, Claire?" one of the other girls said to the red-head.

"Okay, Jess. Take her cell phone. So she can't call for help," Claire said. They took my cell phone.

"How did Jacky get Brendon Urie to fall in love with her? She was such a loser in high school. And look at her. She hasn't changed one bit," Jess said, then punched me in the face one final time, and I blacked out.

Claire's Point of View

"Someone find Brendon," I said. We all looked around.

"Shit, he's not here! Does anybody know where Jacqueline lives?" I said.

"Nope," they all said. Taylor then came in the room with Steph.

"Stay right beside the bed and don't move! I have a gun," Taylor said. Steph shivered.

"You wouldn't be involved if you weren't so nosy, Steph," Teresa said. Then Jacqueline's phone rang. I picked it up.

"Hello," I said.

"Hi, it's Aurora. Jon told me what happened," the girl said.

"Well, you have the wrong number, I have no clue what you're talking about," I said.

"Oh sorry, bye," Aurora said, or whatever her name is. She probably is as much of a loser as Jacqueline is.

Well, that girl kept calling, so we got so annoyed that we decided that we'd leave the hotel. We climbed out the window, quickly, 'cause it's more fun climbing out a window, according to Jess, Taylor, and Teresa, who were not wearing a skirt! So unfair.

Meanwhile
Brendon's Point of View

I walked back into the house. I sat on the couch and thought where she might go when my phone rang.

"Hello?" I said.

"Hey, it's Jon. What's up?" my friend, Jon Walker, said.

"Jacky ran away. And Brent left the band. Oh, why is life so complicated?"

"Brent and Jacky. Boy that's rough."

"Listen. Do you know where Jacky is?" I said.

"I don't know. I got a call from her, but I don't know if she was in the car or not," Jon said.

"Well, bud. I was thinking you could replace Brent until we find a new bassist."

"Yeah, of course I will! When's band practice?"

"We're not having one until a month or two. I'm gone with Jacky for at least a month."

"Okay, well call me when we have a band practice. Gotta go. Bye-bye," Jon said.

"Bye," I responded. Right after, my phone rang again. It was Aurora, Jacky's friend.

"Hello?" I said.

"Brendon, I'm kind of worried about Jacky," Aurora said.

"What's going on?"

"Well Jon called me and told me about you two. So I called Jacky, and these weird girls picked up and said I had the wrong number. I did not get her number wrong 'cause I kept redialing it. I think someone kidnapped Jacky!"

"Oh shit...taki mushrooms!" I said as Jakob walked into the room.

"But I now where they were. My cell has a tracking device. I told you I was a total nerd," Aurora said.

"Tell me!"

"Holiday Inn, Room 207," Aurora said.

"Wow, you are a nerd. Okay, got to go. Bye."

"Bye." I hung up, and ran into the kitchen. I knew Billie would like to know where his daughter is.

"Mr. Armstrong, I know I just tried to beat you up down there, but you gotta come with me somewhere."

"What do want now?" Billie said. Adrienne nudged him in the shoulder.

"Jacky's in trouble. And I need your car. You can drive it," I said. Then Billie grabbed the keys and headed for the door.

"I'm coming too. And so are you, Mike," Tre said. So we all squeezed into the car and made our way to the Holiday Inn.

So we walked in, and in the centre of the lobby, there was a buffet.

"Food!" said Tre. He ran into the rows of buffet tables, and we lost him from there.

"Coffee?" Mike said. He strayed away from the group to get a cup of coffee. We finally got to the front of the line up for the front desk.

"Yes, we want a key to room 207," I said.

"Here you go," the man said, and handed us the key. We went to floor two and found the room. We opened the door to find nobody there. That's when Tre came behind me and practically yelled in my ear.

"The croissants were amazing!" Tre screamed. Then a girl got up from behind the bed.
"Where did you put my fiancé?" I said.

"It's wasn't me. They put her in their. I couldn't unlock the door," the girl said.

"Can you tell us the combination?" Billie said.

"No," she said.

"Can you tell us where the people who did it went, or what they looked like?" Billie said.

"No," the girl said.

"What are you? Blind?" Billie said.

"Yes."

"Oh my God. I didn't know. I'm sorry," Billie said. She started to cry. Then Tre approached her.

"Hey, listen, Billie's sorry. He's not that friendly with people he doesn't know," Tre said.

"Then how does he make friends?" the girl said, starting to giggle.

"I guess he's lucky to have me as a friend. May I ask you what your name is?" Tre said.

"Steph, and you?"

"Tre, well actually Frank. Tre Cool's my nick name."

Steph gasped. "Tre Cool, drummer extraordinaire, from Green Day?"

"That's me."

"Wow, I'm guessing that over there is Billie Joe and Mike."

"Yep."

Tre kept talking to her, while Billie and I tried to think of the password. It was 1234. So we opened the closet and found Jacky knocked out on the floor. I picked her up, and placed her on the bed. She woke up and started to cry.

"Don't worry. I'm here. I won't let anyone hurt you again," Brendon said.

"I'm so sorry I left you. I was just kind of stressed," Jacky said.

"It's okay," I said.

"So, we should go back now," Billie said.

"Ok, you guys, leave. I want to be alone with Brendon for a bit. We'll be back soon," Jacky said. So Mike and Billie left, with Tre and Steph.

"I'm sorry," I said. Jacky threw her arms around me.

"So, are you okay?" I asked.

"I just want to go back to-" She was cut off by my cell phone. I sat on the bed to answer my cell phone.

"Vegan Las Adios isn't a city. Where do you live?" Billie screamed into the phone.

"It wouldn't be on a map, because it's too small. I was born in Summerlin."

"Oh, sorry. Bye," Billie said before he hung up. As Jacky sat down, I burst out laughing.

"What going on, B?" Jacky said.

"Your dad just got told!" I said. Jacky shook her head and laid down on the bed.

Jacky's Point of View

I laid down the bed. I was kind of tired. I just wanted to go home. Not to my house, but Brendon's house. That feel's more like home than any place in the world.

Can't you be serious, Brendon?

Brendon turned around. He laid down beside me. "So, what were you saying before?" Brendon said, as he wrapped his arm around me.

Mature Brendon's back!

"I want to go home," I said.

"Well, let's go."

"No, not there. Your home. Our home."

"Already?"

"Yes, there's too much stress," I said.

"Well, how 'bout we leave tomorrow," Brendon said.

"Alright, but there's something else," I said. "The girls that beat me were the one's from my school," I continued.

"Oh," Brendon said.

"You look tired," I said.

"I am."

"Well, go to sleep, babes. I love you."

"I love you, too," Brendon said. Then we both fell asleep in each other's arms.

At Billie's house
Tre's Point of View

"Well, we're here," I said. Steph smiled.

"Are you sure I can stay here?" Steph said.

"Of course. Adie is soo nice. You'll love her. But you can stay at our house if you can't here," I said.

"Alright," Steph said. She climbed out of the car, with some help, and we walked to the door. Billie opened the door, and we went inside.

"Hey guys. Is Jacky okay?" Adrienne said.

"Yeah, she's just back at the hotel with Brendon," Mike said.

"Who's that?" Claudia said.

"Oh, this is Steph. She doesn't have anywhere to stay. Is it okay if she stays here?" Billie said.

"Not a problem," Adrienne said.

Steph took off her coat, and tapped on my shoulder. "I don't know my way around, and the girls took my stick, so I can't walk on my own."

"Okay then, hold on to me," I said. She grabbed my arm, and we walked in the living room.

"So, where did you meet Billie and them?" Adie said.

"I was with the girls who beat up Jacky-" Steph was interrupted.

"What? Jacky was beat up!" Adie said. We then explained the whole thing, and she stopped panicking.

"I thought you had a meeting, Claudia," I said.

"Yeah, well I got back early. I had to tell Adie and Em what happened."

"What happened?" I asked.

"Nothing."

"Whatever."

"Oh, by the way, Serge said Frankito and I can move in with him, tomorrow.

"What!" I said.

"Just letting you know," Claudia said.

"Well, I'll be right back, I'm going outside for a bit," I said. I went outside and sat on the porch.

Steph's Point of View

Tre walked outside. He was probably upset. I would be if I were him. I don't know, why, but I kind of felt lonely without him, so I went outside to check on him.

"Hey, are you okay?" I said.

"Yeah, I am. How did you find your way to the door?" Tre said.

"I have no clue myself."

"Well, another kid I'll never see again. First Ramona, now Frankito."

"Don't say that. You'll see him."

"No I won't. You have no clue what I'm going through. You love something, and it's taken away. And you never see them again. You'll never know what that's like," Tre said, obviously angry. He pushed me away, and I fell down onto the lawn.

"Yeah, I think I do," I said, as I stood up. Then I started to walk away. I know I couldn't see, but I don't want to ever talk to that man again. I thought he was kind of a friend. But he pushed me down and didn't even care. After I had walked almost three blocks, I heard someone approaching me.

"Steph, wait! I didn't mean to hurt you, I just was upset. Please don't leave, you'll get hurt," Tre said.

"Why should I?" I said.

"It's going to start raining soon. You should come inside," Tre said. Right after he said that, I heard the raindrops hit the ground, and I felt myself getting wet.

"Come on. We have to go three blocks to get back. We're soaked. And you're-" Tre said.

"No, I want to stay out in the rain," I said.

"I know this is random, but were you born blind?"

"No, I had sight once, but then my stepfather came into my life after my dad died. I had a good life before my dad died. I was 12. My mom married a jerk that she only knew for two days, only a week after the funeral. He would abuse me until I was unconscious. Then I started getting seizures, and all my friends thought I was a freak, so I lost all my friends. Then one day I had a seizure while he was talking to me. He thought I was faking, so he kicked me in the back of the neck, and I went into a coma. I woke up on my 13th birthday, and I couldn't see. I heard that my mom was killed by my father who committed suicide right after. So I was blind ever since then."

"Wow," Tre said.

"I know. You know I can visualize you," I said.

"How? Am I a hot visualization?"

"No, because it probably wouldn't be realistic. Well can I see if my visualization is correct?"

"Sure, what do you want me to do?" Tre said.

I put my hand on his face and started tracing it out in my mind. He had wet hair sticking to his face from the rain. He had a nose that made him look a bit like a bird. He was really good-looking. I was wrong about my prediction. Then I did some mind reading, and I got the colours of his eyes and hair from his pulse. I learned it in mind reading class, when I was 10. Then I felt two arms go around my waist, and I got closer to Tre. I put my arms around his neck.

"I-um think you are um-beautiful," Tre said. We then locked lips, and broke apart to the sound of thunder.

"Do you know why we should of run?" Tre said.

"Why?" I said.

"Because you're wearing a white tank top and apparently a white bra."

I felt myself turning red. "Let's go." I said. We ran the three blocks to Billie's house, and we rang the doorbell.

"Hey guys! They're back!" Billie said. We stepped inside and we saw Claudia helping Frankito put on his coat.

"Well, see you guys later," Claudia said.

"I guess I'll see you at home later," Tre said. Claudia didn't respond, and she shut the door behind her. Minutes later, poor Adie came rushing in with towels, for us to dry off. Then we talked until 9:00 when Tre left, and I went to bed.

Emily's Point of View

Well, Steph went to bed, and Adie finally let out what we were all thinking.

"She's really nice and all, but why does she look like she doesn't know where she's going?" Adie said.

"Well, she's blind," Billie said. Mike then came and sat down beside me.

"Okay, well I learned something new today," Adie said. Then the doorbell rang.

"It's probably Jacky and Brendon," I said. Billie got up and opened the door. Then Jacky and Brendon walked inside. They said something to Billie and walked upstairs.

"They said they're tired, so they are going to bed," Billie said.

"Well, we should get going, eh," I said.

"Yeah, we should. Estelle is going to keep your boys up," Mike said.

"I never noticed that you brought Estelle with you," Billie said.

"Boy, you're oblivious. You should go to bed," I said.

"Yes, mother."

We then walked out the door and got into the car. We drove home, and I finally said something I needed to say for a long time, "I want to have a kid."

"What? I can't have another kid," Mike said.

"Daddy, Emily's having a baby? Yeah! I'm going to be a big sister," Estelle said. Estelle moved in with us when Anastasia moved to Hong Kong with Nick, her new fiancé, who hates children. I don't know how someone could hate children, because everyone was once a child.

"No, she isn't, Hero. Maybe some day," Mike said. He went upstairs and put Estelle to sleep. Then he came back down stairs.

"Yes," Mike said. I stared into his crystal blue eyes and grinned.

Tre's Point of View

I got home, and no one was there. I then looked at a note on the fridge.

Dear Tre,
I don't know how I was ever in love with you. You were so immature, but you always made me smile. I lost those feelings for you, and we got a divorce. But there was one problem. Frankito. I stayed in the same house as you, for Frankito's sake. But I met someone I fell in love with. Serge is the greatest guy a girl could have. I said yes, of course, when he asked me to move with him to Italy. Well, I didn't want it to be too painful for you or Frankito, so I left before you could say goodbye. It would be painful for me to watch myself take our son away from you. So I left, and by the time you get this, we will be boarding our flight. I never want to see you again. You hurt me when I was in love with you, and now I'm hurting you. Have a taste of you own medicine. Well, you're a bad example for Frankito, and eventually he will forget you. But I will always remember you. You were my first love.

Bye,
Claudia

P.S. Look at the picture Frankito drew for you.
Back side

On the back side, there was a drawing by Frankito of him and me walking, and I had drum sticks in my hand, and he had a guitar. Then he wrote, in his barely ledgible writing:

You're the best Daddy in the whole wide world. Mommy told me to forget about you, but I wont. I wont forget you, Daddy. I love you and I'm going to be just like you when I grow up, if Mom likes it or not. And I will do a song about you, just like Billie did about his daddy. I love you, Daddy.

Frankito

I wiped my tears and got in the car. I drove to the airport, and ran towards their flight, but when I had gotten there, they took off, and I would never see them again. I went back home, and called the one person I felt I had left. Steph.

"Hello?" Steph said.

"Hi, it's Tre."

"Oh, hi. So, what's up?"

"Claudia left before I could say goodbye. Their flight just left for Italy."

"Oh my God. I'm so sorry! Do you want me to come over?" Steph said.

"No, that's too much trouble. You can't drive," I said.

"Well, anyways, sing a song in your head, and you'll forget about the whole thing, and you'll fall asleep."

"Okay, I'll try," I said.

"Well, I gotta go."

"No, don't hang up! I feel better talking to you," I said.

"Okay."

So we talked for several hours, to be exact, 1:30 in the morning. Well, she fell asleep, so I hung up and went to bed. Then I started to think about Frankito. I would miss Frankito, a lot. Then I slowly fell asleep with a song in my head from watching Fox and the Hound with Frankito.

We met, it seems, such a short time ago
You looked at me-needing me so
Yet from your sadness
Our happiness grew
And I found out I needed you too
I remember how we used to play
I recall those rainy days
The fire's glow
That kept us warm
And now I find-we're both alone

Goodbye may seem forever
Farewell is like the end
But in my heart is a memory
And there you'll always be
