You're the best thing in town, chapter 6

Adie's POV

I woke up the next morning, the sun shining through the curtains, blinding me. I felt Billie's hand around my waist, and smiled. I gently slipped out of his arms, got dressed, and headed downstairs to make breakfast for the kids, Jacky, and Brendon.

"Hi mom," Joey said, in a monotone voice.

"Hey Joey, what's wrong?" I said

"Nothing," Joey said.

"Alright, whatever you say." I turned around when I heard small little footsteps, and then heavier footsteps.

"Good morning Mommy!" Jakob said, running over to me, and gave me a huge hug.

"Good morning, baby."

"Is Jacky still here?" Jakob said

"Yes, she's staying here for a few months."

"Good, because I need to talk to Brendon," Jakob said, deep in thought.

"Ok, sure," I said, think what he would talk to him about.

"Where's Jacky and Brendon, anyway?" Billie asked.

"Let them sleep," I said.

"Fine."

Jacky pov

I woke up, and tried to get out of bed. Brendon was holding me down, but finally got out. Then, a hand grabbed mine.

"Stay with me a bit longer," Brendon said, with one eye open. He opened his other eye and gave me his inresistable puppy dog eyes. I could never turn them down, even if my life depended on it.

"Fine, I will," I said, "But if I fall asleep again, it's your fault."

"Deal," Brendon said. I got into bed beside him, and he wrapped his arm around my neck. I lay there for a bit, thinking about stuff.

"I getting up, kay?" Brendon said.

"You said, not too long ago you wanted me to stay in bed longer with you, and now you want me to get up. Boy, you're a real pain," I said.

"Well, things change," Brendon said.

"Not that fast, though," I argued.

"For me they do," He said

"Why?"

"Because I'm special."

"You're special! Wow, I would have never guessed!" I said sarcastically.

"Oh, very funny."

"It's fun to piss you off."

"I can feel the love," Brendon said. I got up and kissed him. He made the kiss deeper, and we almost started making out, when my cell rang.

"Stupid phone! I could of got laid," Brendon said, pissed off. I giggled at Brendon's remark

"You wouldn't of anyway, since there are kids and my parents right below us."

"That's just like you, Jack. Bringing my hopes up, and crushing them to pieces," Brendon said. I picked up the phone and looked at the caller display

My Boss.
Oh, shit.

"Hello," I said.

"Jacky, you said you'd be back today. Where are you?" My boss, Angelica screamed.

"Well, something came up," I said. I put the phone against my chest, so my boss wouldn't hear what I was saying.

"Should I quit my job?"

"Why?"

"Well, your band is making a good amount of money from your CD and gigs. There's no point in working for that bitch of a boss anymore. She's gonna fire me, anyways," I said.

"You're right. Plus, someone's gotta be with our kid, when I'm on tour."

"Yeah, you're right." I turned back to the phone, and pissed my boss off. She eventually fired me, and I hung up on her.

"Hey, remember when you told me that you were pregnant?"

I was walking home from the drugstore. I got to our house and quickly ran into the washroom, before B-Do could ask me anything.

I got into the washroom, and took the test. I couldn't look at it. I was too scared. I called my friend, Sam. She said she would come over as fast as she could.

I went into my room, the one I slept in when I had a fight with B, or just wanted to be alone. Then, Sam finally arrived.

"Let me look at it. I won't tell you, unless you want me to," Sam said.

"Yes, but tell me what it says."

"You wanna know what it is?" Sam said.

"Yes, the suspense is killing me!"

"Negative," Sam said. I was so relieved. I wasn't ready for a baby, at all.

"No, I was kidding, It's positive. Congrats!"

"You were kidding? That was really mean," I said, worried.

Sam laughed."You should be happy."

"I'm happy, just worried."

"Why?" Sam asked.

"I'm not ready for a baby, Sam! I gonna be a terrible mother," I said

"Don't say that. You'll be a great mother. You and Brendon will be great parents."

"You think so? Plus me and B-Do had a huge fight," I said

"Of course. Plus, you guys are perfect for each other, so you will make up."

"Thanks for being here, Sammy. It meant a lot to me."

"Hey, that's what friends are for, right?" Sam walked out of the bedroom, and I heard, the front door open and shut.

I knew I had to tell Brendon. He had a right to know, even if his career was ruined by a sudden baby. Then, Brendon knocked on the door, and asked me what was happening. I opened the door, and told him to sit in the living room with me. To talk.

"Well, what's there to tell me?" Brendon said.

"I'm sorry. I shouldn't have got mad at you for being a little grouchy," I confessed

"That's it."

"B, why are you so crabby?"

"I've been worried"

"About what?" I asked

"About you...about us and how it's changed, and I've just kinda been worried that you would..." Brendon said, then stopped.

"I would, what?"

"You would leave me. Go back to your family, one day. I know it sounds fucked, how I've been mad at you this whole time, but I don't want to lose you."

"Oh," I said, dumbfounded. This whole time, we had been fighting, because I thought he didn't love me anymore, and he was worried my Dad's bodyguard would take me away. But little did he know the conversation I had with the guard.

"Trust me. He will never bother us again."

"I hope so," Brendon said and then I burst into tears.

"What's the matter, J?"

"I'm pregnant, B, and I not ready. We're not ready!" I said. I looked up at Brendon. He looked really shocked.

"B, are you okay?" I said. He nodded, and went to sit down, but fell over.

"Are you sure?"

"Yeah, J-lyn just surprised," Brendon said. He started to cry as well, and came to sit beside me. He pulled me closer to him.

"Don't worry. We'll do just fine. Our CD was finally released yesterday, and we can start our lives together," Brendon said. I rested my head on his shoulder, and thought. How am I going to tell my parents?

Brendon's POV

***RECAP***

"Hey, remember when you told me you were pregnant?" I said.

"Ha, that was a Kodak moment," Jacky said."You face was priceless!"

I was walking home from Brent's house. I got in the door, and saw no Jacky.

"Jacky!" I screamed, through the house, but there was no reply. Then I saw a note on the fridge...

Gone out 2 the drugstore, b bak soon
I hope we can resolve things, when I get back.
- J-lyn -

I put the note back where I found it. Then I heard the door open. Jacky came running in, and into the bathroom. I guess when you got to go, you got to!

That's when Sam came running in, and I heard screaming. I went to Jackys room when Sam left. She finally opened the door. We resolved our fight, and then something unexpected happened. Jacky burst into tears.

"What's the matter, J?"

"I'm pregnant, B, and I not ready. We're not ready!" She said. I looked at her, feeling kind of faint. I couldn't have a child. It's too soon for me.

"B, are you okay?" She said. I nodded and went to sit down, but fell over. Jacky must have thought I was drunk. I was just stressed out.

"Are you sure?"

"Yeah, J-lyn just surprised," I said. I started to cry as well, and went to sit beside Jacky. I pulled her closer to me, thinking.

I hope my band doesn't slaughter me, or worse, my career goes down the drain.

"Well, remember when I told you that the guard wouldn't come back," Jacky said.

"Yeah."

"Well, I spoke with the guard and begged him not to tell my Dad where I was, and to let me stay here, because I loved you."

"Wow. That guard got told by a girl," Brendon said. I hit his arm, playfully. Then we walked downstairs, to have breakfast.

"We thought you guys were dead," Billie said.

"No. They were probably just getting busy," Tre said. Jacky blushed a bit, making me smile. She was so cute when she blushed.

"Eww, you were in the guest room. That's where Grandma sleeps, when she comes over," Jakob said.

"Poor Gran," Joey and Jake said, in unison.

"They weren't doing anything up there, because that would be stupid, knowing how much this house echoes and and we would be able to hear it," Mike hollered, as he walked through the front door, with Emily.

"Figures you'd know," Tre said. Emily and Mike blushed a bit and everyone started to laugh except for Jacky and I.

"Shut up! We didn't know you guys were in the house," Mike said

"Forget about that. How do you guys get in the house?" Billie said.

"The door's always open, when I come," Tre said.

"Oh, never mind. I've got to wonder though," Billie said.

"I'm hungry!" Tre screamed. We heard an echo of the scream.

"I was right. The house echoes," Mike said.

"Mike, nobody cares. I'm hungry!" Emily giggled. Tre was already shoveling down pancakes, with syrup running from the sides of his mouth.

"Tre, you pig! Those were for Jacky and Brendon!" Adie said.

"It's okay. We'll skip breakfast," Jacky said.

"No you can't. You're pregnant. You need to eat, or you'll collapse," Adie said.

"It's okay. I'll eat cereal," Jacky said.

"Alright. Easier for me. How about you, Brendon?"

"Cereal is just fine, for me," I said. We sat down, and had our breakfast, while Tre was talking to Adie about how he might be pregnant.

"I need food, just as much as she does," Tre said.

"Tre, you are a man. Men don't get pregnant," Adie said.

"Yes they can! I saw a movie with Arnold Schwartzenegger, where he was a pregnan..." Tre was interrupted by Adie.

"Tre, that's just a movie., Adie said.

"You're right. It was a great documentary though." Adie gave up after that. Jacky finished her cereal, and went to talk with Emily. I finished my breakfast and walked over to Jacky, when someone pulled on my arm.

"I want to talk to you for a second, 'kay?" Billie Joe said. I nodded my head, and followed him into his studio.

Jacky's POV

I finished my cereal, and looked over at Emily. I didn't know her too well, so I decided to introduce myself.

"Hi, I'm sorry, I was never fully introduced to you," I said.

"Oh, same. I know your name is Jacky, and you're Billie's daughter from a girlfriend he had." Emily said.

"Yes. All I know about you is that you are Emily and are Mike's girlfriend."

"Well, you are right," Emily said. We both giggled. I later found out that she was from England, originally, and Mike was on tour with Green Day, when they met. They met at a Starbucks, go figure. She must love coffee. When Mike had to leave, she was heart broken. She had a crush on him, and Mike didn't know. He surprised her by coming to visit her, as a friend, but ended up asking her out, and she said yes. They came back to California, and she moved in with Mike. They had been going out, ever since I ran away.

"Wow, interesting," Emily said, after I told her about my life.

"No, not really," I said

"By the way, Brendon is a great guy. He's seems so sweet," Emily said

"Yeah, that's why I love him," I said. I looked around.

"What's the matter?" Emily said.

"Do you know where Brendon went?"

"Yeah I did. He went downstairs with Billie Joe."

Crash!

"What was that? Where is that sound coming from?" Adie said.

"No! Not my precious drums!" Tre screamed, running down the stairs. We all followed Tre down the stairs to see what was happening.

Meanwhile...
Billie's POV

We walked into my private studio, and sat down in some chairs that were lying around.

"So, what do you want to talk about?" Brendon said.

"About my daughter," I said. Brendon gulped and looked at me, a little scared.

"So, just to let you know, I'm doing this to make sure my daughter marries a good guy," I said. Brendon just slumped down in his chair a bit, obviously nervous.

"I understand." He said. I nodded my head.

"Where do you live?"

"Vegan Las Adios, sir."

"Don't call me sir, just call me Billie."

"Okay," He said. I kept asking him questions, going a little harder on him, than I meant to. I just wanted to make sure he was right for my daughter. He was a lot like me. This felt like I was talking to myself, when I was 18. I wanted her with a guy who had something.

"What do you have to offer to my daughter, that nobody else can give?" I said.

"My heart, soul and everything I own," He said.

Good Answer

"Well, I think you're a good guy. By the way, don't tell Jack we had this talk, 'kay?" I said. I heard him say something under his breath.

"What was that?"

"Nothing. Bug off me. You should be happy with whoever your daughter's marrying. You questioned me like crazy, and I stressed out enough, and all I need is my fiancé's father breathing down my back. It's hard, okay. Even if you didn't like me, I'd still marry her, Because I love her. I just want you to remember that. And I will tell Jacky about this."

"Jacky wouldn't marry you, without my approval. And you'd be too scared to marry her against my will," I said

"Oh yeah. Try me," He said.

"You couldn't."

"I shouldn't but that doesn't mean I couldn't or wouldn't" He said. This is when I got angry. I lunged toward Brendon, and threw a punch. I knocked over Tre's snare and cymbals. He'd kill me, but I'd blame it on Brendon. Brendon threw a punch, and I tackled him to the ground. We rolled around kicking and punching each other. My forehead was cut, and sides were bruised. Brendon had a bleeding nose and a cut on the side of his face. Then I heard footsteps come down the stairs.

"Baby, get off Brendon! What's going on?" Adie screamed.

"Brendon? What's goin-" Jacky stopped talking. I just looked at her. I promised her I wouldn't get into a fight with her Dad. Not even verbally. But I had just let her down.

"J-lyn I-" I got out before she slapped me right across the face. It hurt a bit, but I could tell, in her eyes, she didn't mean to slap me. I saw a tear roll down her cheek, and she turned around and ran.
