You should know me better, chapter 3

"So, what's your story, C?"
"C?"
"As in DarC." All three of them were sitting in Tre's living room, mugs of hot chocolate in their hands. Darcey heaved a long sigh.

"Summary?" The two guys nodded in unison "My dad died when I was 8, my mum remarried 6 months ago, then mum killed herself and I was left with my step dad, Richard. Last night he hit me so I ran away."

"I knew he hit you, I'm gonna go and kick the crap outta him now"
"Not so fast Joe" Tre Cool announced, grabbing him by the back of the shirt "How's that gonna help?"

"Make me feel better" Joey sat back down "But Dars you're never going back"
"What if I can't stay with you?" the thought struck Darcey like another hit to the face

"You will be able to. And if not you can stay with me". Tre made that very clear, a phone began to ring on the far side of the room, Tre leapt up, running over to get it.

"Yello... Billie!...yeah, he's here...your getting a new housemate too by the sounds of it...yeah I'll bring them...just she's a girl so wear clothes... .oh and have an ice pack ready...you'll see." Tre turned to stare at Darcey sympathetically, "See you in 10...bye." He hung up the phone. "Oh and C, have a key, hehe that rhymed." Tre threw a key to Darcey

"Do you just have spares?" He nodded while smirking,
"Now let's go!"

All 3 climbed into the car, Tre slowly starting it up.
"Don't stall, don't stall!" he muttered under his breath. For once the car didn't, letting them get to Joey's with 3 minutes to spare. Darcey and Joey clambered out, taking Darcey's stuff with them.
"I'll see you later, Frankito will be up soon and Claudia's outta town." With that, and a wave, he was gone. Darcey gulped.

***Billie Joe's P.O.V***

Does Joey just think he can bring anyone home? Last time it was the hobo, what's it this time? A prostitute? I waited on the stairway for the door to open, when it did I was all ready to refuse this person access to the house but then I saw her. What the fuck happened to her face? It was purple, black and yellow, dark blood had dried down it.

"What happened?". She gave me a summary about her dad's death, then her mums and Richard, her step father, he seemed to be the 'King of Bastards'. A pang of guilt hit me, I was going to tell this girl to fuck off, but now I can see why Tre told me to get an ice pack.

Adie must have heard them come in as moments later she came in, from the kitchen, holding an ice pack. She rushed over to the girl, holding the ice pack to her face, mothering her. That's my Adie, caring, loving and the best in these kinds of situations.

"So is it alright if Dars, I mean Darcey, stays?" I guess it wouldn't hurt.
"Seeing as her fucktard step-dad did this to her and she has no where else it's alright." Good job Billie, act tough, like you're in charge, like you are dominant. Now think of a joke, think of a joke!

"She can stay in the spare room next to yours." Quickly, a joke, seem smart! "As long as when you get up to stuff, use protection. I'm too young to be a grand-daddy." There. That should make me seem smart.
"Tre already told us that!" Spoil sports!

***Narrator's P.O.V***

Joey and Darcey giggled between them selves as Joey showed her to her room, clutching the ice pack Darcey sat down on her new bed.

"Thanks so much Joey, you have no idea how much this means to me."
"No probs," he casually replied. Adie slipped into the room as they were talking, startling them from the trance they had been in.

"Billie and I are just taking Jakob to the doctors. We'll be back soon, okay?"
"Okay," they both replied.
"And Darcey, honey, you can stay as long as you like, I always wanted a daughter," Adie chuckled.

"Thanks Mrs. Armstrong."
"Call Me Adie." A feeling of security ran through Darcey's blood, after only 5 minutes this place felt more homely, then her old residence.

Darcey watched the door shut. No creak, this was new to her. The house was perfect; everything she had ever wanted was here. It felt like home. The room was a deep red, it all seemed to match. There were no cracks, no mess, nothing like her old house. Except she could hardly call this a house, it was a mansion; Darcey had stayed in hotels smaller than this.

"Now let's cheer you up, even more!" He stood up, running into the bathroom and returning with boxes of hair dye. He streamed them out across the bed, every colour was there from the blonde Billie used occasionally to a luminous pink. It almost looked like they had the entire selection of the dyes from 'Wal-Mart'.

"Pick a colour."
