You should know me better, chapter 2

"If he fucking hit you, I will rip him limb from limb!" Several outbursts of anger were thrown out of Joey as soon as he saw the bruise and gash along the left side of Darcey's face.

"Cool it! Just breathe deeply," he did as he was told, taking deep breaths.

"You're not going to school today, neither am I"

"Duh! It's Sunday."

"Yeah, well, you're moving in with me"

"Thanks but..." Staring at her Converse she couldn't think of a reason why not. Joey pulled a phone from his trousers.

"My dad won't be up yet but I know a sugar junkie who will" He paused to dial a number, "C'est Moi... That means 'It's me' I thought you were meant to speak French?... Same to you... Anyway will you come and pick me up... The gym... And wear clothes... I'm bringing a mate," He put the phone down, "He's on his way."

"What would I do without you?"

"You wouldn't be here" , as much as Joey dared to think this, he didn't dare say it. They both sat in a long eerie silence, waiting.

"Ey, Joey!" shouted a voice,

"Over here!" The voice, singing 'Dominated Love Slave', strutted over. Although it was only 5. 12am he looked like he had been up for hours, this was a sugar junkie.

"Shit! What's happened to your face?" Darcey's tear stained eyes told the story, "Sorry, here let me help". He picked up her stuff, leaving Joey to lead her to the car,

"What's with him? He's wearing sunglasses and a scarf round his face. But I know that voice, where do I know that voice from?!" . Every blink left Darcey in pain.

Joey's P. O. V

She knows! She's too smart not to! Great, now she'll just be obsessed with my dad. It will all be fitting together, Tre picking us up, me having 'Armstrong' for my surname and if she's moving in she'll always see Dad. 11 years of friendship down the drain, just because of him.

"You sit in the front, there's more room," I stated, giving her the 'Don't argue with me' look. Darcey just shrugged. Tre's SUV, soon set off towards my third home (Mike's is my second; it's a hell of a lot cleaner).

Darcey's P. O. V
Silence. Just go ahead and break it.

"Excuse but... Erm... "

"Tre," Through the scarf I could even see that smirk.

"Where do I know you from?"

"I'll let Joey fill you in". I gave Joey a quizzical look, he replied with a 'tell-you-when-we-get-there' one.

Narrator's P. O. V

Tre flicked on the old car stereo, the fuzzy sound of Boulevard of Broken Dreams finished, leaving someone to rattle on about the price of postage stamps. Damp patches were scattered across the road from last night's storm, grass sparkled with dew in the light. Darcey was astounded.

"So Joey lives on this side of town, the good one. No wonder he never lets me go to his. I thought he'd have known that no matter what we'd still be friends, even if he is a 'richie'".

"Home sweet home! I need sugar!" Tre screamed, running out of the car, locking it, "You can come out when you explain it to her!" Laughing like a maniac, he sprinted into the cream coloured house, through the white front door.

"Tell me what?" Darcey demanded her best friend

"He's Tre Cool". Staring at the floor, Joey refused to make eye contact.

Darcey's P. O. V

Tre Cool? Green Day's drummer! Wait a minute! Joey Armstrong, Billie Joe Armstrong. His dad's Billie Joe Armstrong.

"Are you?"

"Yes,"

"Why didn't you tell me?"

"I thought you'd like my dad more than me," he was ashamed, blushing a deep shade of red.

"That could never happen! You should know me better! Whatever happens were friends till the end."

Narrator's P. O. V

"Fuck! Tre, you scared the shit outta me". Tre had pushed his face up to the glass behind Joey, pulling open the door, letting Joey fall. Darcey laughed, getting out of the car.

"Leave your stuff there..."

"Darcey,"

"Darcey, I'll take you home when you want." Another tear came to her eye, quickly wiping it away, Darcey looked at Joey.

"She's staying with me," he filled Tre in

"Well just use protection, Billie's not old enough to be a granddad yet!"

"We're only friends!" Darcey protested, but Tre started with his evil laugh.

"So come on, inside and tell Uncle Tre what's up". Darcey followed Joey and Tre up to the house. "Who wants sugar?"

"He's definitely a sugar junkie".
