Atlantic City, NJ - MGM Arena, April 23rd, 2005
On April 24th one of the best nights of my live occurred. Not only did I attend my first concert, but it was for my favorite band in the world...GREEN DAY!!!!
To start off the show, My Chemical Romance performed and at the time I didn't know many of their songs but since I enjoyed their performance so much I bought their new CD and have learned that they're very good. Anyways after MCR performed, the drunken bunny came onstage and chugged beers and got everyone to do the YMCA.
About 25 minutes later, 2001 a space odyssey came on and before you knew it the guys of Green Day hit the stage; and the riffs for American Idiot began to blast throughtout the arena. During American Idiot the crowd went absolutely insane, making the first song mostly a blur. Right after American Idiot they went into Jesus of surburbia which was amazing to hear live. I dont remember the exact order but im pretty sure next they played Hitchin a ride where Billie Joe began to moan into the microphone and had his hands slowly slip down his pants and then he screamed "SOMEBODY FUCK ME!!!" where of course all of us girls screamed and im pretty sure a lot of guys did too.
Another memorable song at that concert was Minority, where he had the crowd join him in a sing-a-long of AYYYOOO'S and one of them he held continuisly for what seemed like forevr and then had the crowd do it too.
My favorite song that they performed was King for a day, which lead into Shout. In King for a day and Shout Billie Joe sported a crown and the rest of the band wore other funny hats. During the song Billie Joe mooned the audience at least twice and ran around like a wind-up doll and even began humping the floor and trying to breakdance.
Other memorable moments included when Billie Joe got a 12 year old boy up on stage and had him squirt a watergun. I was really close to the stage so I kept getting sprayed which really helped because of all the heat. Another thing that happened that most people look forward to is when Billie Joe picks out people to play their instruments. The girl that got to play guitar I actually was talking to before the show. Not only did she get to keep the guitar but Billie also gave the girl a kiss on the cheek and a hug. He also left her with the words "get off my fucking stage and practice"
They ended the concert with We are the Champions and confetti flew everywhere! (I still have a bag of confetti from the concert). Then everyone except Billie Joe left the stage and he stood out on the runway alone with one single spotlight on him, and a few flakes of confetti still slowly falling. He played good riddance where I was brought to tears because I knew the night was over.
If you are looking to attend a good concert this is definitely the one. It's absolutely amazing and I can honestly say it was the best night of my life. Tre Cool, Bllie Joe aArmstrong, Mike Dirnt, and Jason White totally tore up the stage like they owned all of us, and I dont think anyone minded.
