You Know You're A Real Green Day Fan When...

Now, I’m not going to rip apart all the points on the version I’ve seen, [Thank you El for sending me it], there are a few things that do annoy me, but I would like to highlight this point:
6. You hate George W. Bush

I’m sorry but this does not make you a real Green Day fan. When has if you like or dislike someone meant you’re a fan of some band. Just because a band is against some of the policies, doesn’t mean you should. Green Day have said that you need to be an individual, that you need to march to your own beat, but by following someone who they hate, you’re not doing that. You’re not being an individual; you’re taking up the views of a band.

Now sure, go ahead, hate if you actually do for a reason, other than “my favourite band does”. But seriously, hating someone because Green Day does means nothing other than you’re not listening to what they’re saying. I interpret a lot of the music to tell me to be myself, be an individual, make up my mind by myself not follow a band.

Let me quote you some things:
“I beg to dream and differ” “ Holiday
” One nation controlled by the media” “ American Idiot

Yes, they’re both from American Idiot, but I feel this album is the one where all the ‘I hate Bush’ has come from. To me, both of those say ‘think for yourself, get your own opinions” but maybe it’s just me.

But back to the point, in summary, hating someone doesn’t make you a real Green Day fan, it means you’re not listening to what the band are trying to say.

Also, I think it’s best not to hate Bush, if you disagree with his policies, hate his democratic party, otherwise you’re only hating the spokesperson, he doesn’t run America by himself!

Thanks For Reading.x
