Elliot Minor
Elliot Minor
Alex, Ed, Dan, Teddy and Ali, these 5 names probably mean nothing to you. Now this is not a blog about how a band saved my life, they didn’t. I randomly saw them on Kerrang! a while back and just because obsessed, and this blog is about them.
Alex Davies -- vocals, guitar, songwriter
Ed Minton -- vocals, guitar
Dan Hetherton -- drums, backing vocals
Ali Paul -- keyboard
Teddy Hetherton – bass
These ex choir boys and classical players were originally ‘The Academy’ but there was a different line up. Alex, Ed, Dan and another person who left the band; Ali joined to play keyboard, and Teddy [Dan’s older brother] to play bass.
At a random gig, Repossession Records saw them and wanted to sign them up, flying them to LA to record their first single, Parallel Worlds which was released on April 9th 2007. And a second single is due soon, August 6th 2007; Jessica. An album is also on its way but no release date set yet.
My story with the band is the same as any fan, but on the 10th April I met them in York, at a CD signing, then saw them play on their first tour date at the Cockpit on May 19th; they were spectacular.
Live they are amazing, they joke with the audience, smile, laugh and make it entertaining. They’re not a studio band either, they don’t need high tech recording equipment to sound good; they do naturally. And the effort? They not only talk to their fans in their free time, but they put so much effort into things such as the street team. I have a pick necklace and I’m getting a badge, I’m one of 2000 people worldwide who has one [in theory, it actually might be less]. Currently, they’re still touring the UK, but when they get big, which I know they will, the tour will expand. If you’re in the area, and they’re not sold out, go, see them, have fun.
For the fans they also make weekly Webisodes, Week 20, this week, was prank calling:
There are also photos of the day, and much more stuff. I’d recommend at least listening to them once
