Well, mothers health is cool and all, but do we have to save her in such a brutal and bloodthirsty way?
I mean, don't they do some thing with potassium injections, also?
They kill the baby with injections and then induce the labour to deliver the dead baby. That sounds inevitably more humane, at least the poor thing is dead as a result of some quick injection and not being half-born then having its brain sucked out.
Also. Quick thought. If a woman has a heart condition or whatever that means carrying a baby would be super-bad for her, wouldn't you just be really, really, really careful with contraception?
Nobody would be really that stupid, knowing that having a baby would be bad for them, and possibly kill them, to go and get theselves up the duff.
I mean if the woman is going to die or get severely hurt delivering the child.

They give them saline injections to poison the child, right? I know those injections happen after sixteen weeks, and you're right even that is....well, it's less brutal than smashing a half-borns head in.

Age: - Gender: - Posts: 85 | April 21st, 2007 at 08:13pm Bloodraine:Most humans aren't cynical enough to want humans to die out completely, so most people are 'pro-reproduction' as a foregon conclusion. Even people who elect to remain childless generally don't think that nobody should ever have children. It seems stupid to me.
I’m pro choice, and not about the only word this gets ludicrously associated with. Pro choice on anything and everything. Human beings should have the right to choose what way they decide to live their lives with all that it entails and nobody should look at them with disdain because the choices people make doesn’t fit what others would have liked them to choose or because it doesn’t fit the mold.
The right to choose is something that is rapidly disappearing in today’s world along side with our fast diminishing civil liberties and rights.
But to answer you, I don’t believe that anyone in their right mind wants the human race to “die”, but that’s exactly the kind of silly argument “baby poppers” put forward every time their ‘breeding ways’ gets put on the spotlight. Why so melodramatic? There’s no happy medium for this people? Its either breed like mad until we’re all swimming in brats or the human race would cease to exist! This is nonsense and luckily not that many people is swallowing this childish bs anymore.
If human kind would be reduced in numbers drastically, and let me tell you there’s a big chance that this will happen in the not so distant future, it would be because of what world leaders do not because of people’s “choices” on reproduction. |

I'd like to see your MD because you are totally wrong.
Well, I guess not.
The alternative to killing the "child" could be to kill yourself.
But a c-section isn't always the answer. |

I've taken morning after pills, only because there isn't a zygote yet. So no living thing. Not even pro-life people can argue that.
It is actually a form of contraception really. But most of the time, I'm on the pill. |

 | April 22nd, 2007 at 12:04am There's a quote from some doctor, I think it goes, 'In times past, abortion took the life of one, for otherwise two would die. Today, abortion takes the life of one, where otherwise two would live.' |

Okay...I REALLY don't want to talk about it, but I will, only to respond to your question...Back when I had my AVNRT heart problem, about a year ago, I used the pill religiously. I mean I took it on one of THE strictest schedules imaginable, and my boyfriend and me used the rhythm method to further prevent me from getting pregnant. We were really, really, REALLY, REALLY careful...but I still got pregnant. It would have killed me to carry that baby for any amount of time, because I would have died from heart failure. I had no choice but to abort it. You can call me stupid for doing the deed when I had that heart problem. Because I admit, I was. But we both figured since I was using the pill and the rhythm method, I wouldn't get knocked up. But things just happen. So yes, there are 'stupid' people that go and get pregnant when they're dealing with a life threatening disease or health problem. But I'll bet most of them, like me, didn't do it on purpose.
Again, I don't want to talk about it any further. I just wanted to answer your question.

Wow, you learn something new each day.
This is just a small question, you don't even have to answer unless you want to, but at what stage did you abort? |

Yeah, I don't talk about it because it still hurts and I'm ashamed to have done it....but to answer your question, it was very early on, between 4 and 5 weeks. |

| April 24th, 2007 at 06:06pm I don't think men should get any say in abortion whatsoever. Whether it be making laws pertaining to abortions or their girlfriend/wife choosing to get one.
I saw a kid I work with wearing some completely inaccurate pro-life shirt today and it just made me think: You have no uterus, you get no say. Shut up.
Does anyone else feel this way? I really don't give a fuck if I'm being sexist. |

They get no say until THEY have to deal with pregnancy. |

Um, no. Men can have a say either way. No one can be disallowed an opinion, and men can be just as passionate about an issue as women can, regardless of subject matter. Maybe they won't have the same exact scope a woman has when it comes to certain terms but that shouldn't matter. Males are allowed [and rightfully so, I might add] to have a say, whether or not they have to deal with pregnancy.
besides, on that basis of discrimination, what about woman who can't concieve? Do they have no say as well?
Or do men have no say just because they don't have vaginas?
The world would be a very different place if we weren't allowed to form opinions on things we hadn't experienced.
Very silly comment to make, really. |

I don't feel it's a silly comment to make or I wouldn't make it.
Men hold more offices of power than women.
More men than women will make laws about my uterus.
0 men will ever go through the pregnancy women do.
I do not believe they should have a say.
They can believe something, but they should have no rights as far as abortion is considered.
If their wife, girlfriend, lover, or a member of the state they're governor of wants one it shouldn't be in their power to say no. |
