So true. Especially in India. You can get a Veggie Bun for like...10 rupees. A Chicken Bun is usually 15-20. Hence, not eating meat lets you save money for more important things. Like earrings. *shallow*

Bleach:
Cry Baby:
millions of animals are bred for humans to eat. Eh
It's actually like a few billion cows, a few billion chickens, and a slightly smaller amount for sheep and pigs.

and then there's all of the other animals.
Billions.
...yet a pound of cow meat is $11.

Try living in NZ.
Here alone there's 4 sheep to every one person.

Ugh, don't make me think about that.

First sheep shagging, then hobbits... What's NZ going to be known for next?

Sheep shagging is just one of those things Australia use to mock New Zealand...

Sorta like how you use everything else to mock us. lmfao

Back on topic:

Alot of meat is imported too, to make it cheaper.

Plus there is much more variety with vegetables.

With meat it's either red or white...

I read a funny, satirical article the other day about how vegetarians are ruining the environment because by refusing to eat cows, their numbers would spiral out of control resulting in an exponential increase in the release of methane gas into the atmosphere creating a bigger hole in the atmosphere. lmfao

There were a bunch of other points as well. You know, I like Lithuania, or Latvia, or somewhere, they have imposed cow tax on the owners of cows because the release of methane actually is quite a problem. Lol. Just seems so petty.

i never thought of becoming a vegan or a vegetarian. The thought never really crossed my mind. Until, one day in anatomy class we had to disect a fetal pig. it was the most horrific thing I have ever had to do in my life. I never felt so disgusted with anything the way I was disgusted by the fact that this pig's mother was slaughtered, and it was ripped out of the womb, killed, and was injected with Formaldehyde for us to "learn" about the anatomy of animals. Since then i haven't been able to eat a piece of meat, and when i do i immediately get sick to my stomach

I've always wondered how many people would become vegetarians/vegans after seeing an animal being slaughtered...

Everything now is all cut up nicely and prepackaged.

I suppose since I spent the majority of my childhood watching my uncle kill chickens by breaking their necks and by the time I was six I knew how to de-pluck a chicken and when I was ten I could prepare it and dispose of the unecessary parts, that all just made me really immune to any sort of grossness in life. It really takes a lot to gross me out.

Well, I've seen just about every propaganda video PETA can throw at me, and they haven't really put me off.
So either they need to try harder or it doesn't bother me much.

More often than not, it does not make me question the fact that I eat meat, but it makes me question the method of slaughter itself.

Yeah but it's much different having to see things in real life then through some sort of medium.

There are people who aren't disturbed by the idea but then you have people who cringe if they talk about some sort of animal cruelty and yet still eat meat.

Because we don't have to face these animals it easy for people to distance themselves.

I don't think it is so different. If the video medium diluted things to such an extent, then stuff like internet porn wouldn't be so popular.

lmfao
porn. Coolio

People watch horror movies where people get killed... Somehow I don't think all those people would be fine with watching someone in real life dying. There are many confronting things that videos or tv take care of.

Actually for me, when I watch a horror movie, where someone is having themselves like, eaten alive or something, or a child has to watch their parents being killed, I get really depressed/sad. But usually people are just like, 'COOL!' ...obviously that's the whole point of a horror movie.

I think a reason why some people hate the idea of an animal in a slaughterhouse is because they're getting slaughtered alive. In the wild, You kill something with a spear, and once they're dead, you cut it up.
I saw some video on the PETA site like, 2 years ago, and it was suppoused to be one of their most gruesome videos... There were many horriffying clips [especially for me, I was 12 lmfao] ...but there was one where there were some sheep in some room, white walls, cement floor, rubber mats... and this man goes up to one of the sheep, with a chainsaw, and saws its head off. Blood was flying everywhere...
tbh I don't think we did that a million years ago.

Coolio

but.
it depends where the meat comes from.
I'm on a huge steak craze at the moment... but I get that 'Natures Promise' meat.
They feed them a vegetarian diet, no hormones, meat is also slightly processed, and it looks good.

It's wierd, because there's that meat company for stop & shop, and then there's the other meat, which doesn't have these kinds of labels... but people still buy it.

For the moment, this is the best I can find in terms of good treatment of animals.

I watched Fast Food Nation today. One of my co-workers watched it quite a while ago and she told me that after she saw it, she decided she didn't want to eat beef anymore. When she went to go get lunch that day, she got something that came with chicken in it instead.

I can completely understand why she would choose to avoid beef after seeing the movie and actually seeing some things that go on in the industry. But what I don't understand is why she thought that other animals were treated any better in a slaughterhouse. I don't understand why she thought it might be less disgusting to eat a chicken than a cow.

The movie just made me want to be a vegan even more than I did before. Instead of just a vegetarian.
