There's just something I don't understand.
Say, you want to play a song, but you need to tune your guitar "half a step down".
But one fret is half a step, right?
Wouldn't it be the same to just play it all one fret lower? Or are they just named poorly? XD
I'm pretty sure it can't be that simple... o.o And maybe I'm paranoid, but it doesn't sound right.
And also... I have a tuner... how do I tune to anything other than standard? :/ |

yes you can play it half a step down with a regular tuning. BUT if it's an Eb5 or something along those lines, you have to tune it down because regular tuning can't get that since it's lower than E5.
if you want an Eb on your low E string, turn the knob so that the reading on the tuner goes more flat and then it should show Eb (assuming this is an electronic tuner) instead of E and then you just line up that moving line in the middle so it's in the tune of Eb. |
