Bird flu

Basically your ok if you dont go round hugging chickens. Its all hype really, the only humans who have died from it seem to people living ruraly and cant get medical treatment. Like the SARS virus a year or two ago.

aww i really hate the whole fuss about bird flu, many people are abandoning their pets or giving them up because they think their deadly.

A year ago i raised some duckilings i found in an abandoned nest and released them. When i came back from holiday last summer i found out that some people had had them shot along with the rest of the flock because they couldn't be bothered to simply get them off the lake and put them undercover. I was so upset for weeks because no-one had even thought of telling me that they were going to do it.

This incident really made the bird flu thing more personal to me and i think that it is really stupid how the uk aren't issuing vaccines to farmers and are just gonna kill all the farm birds within one mile radius of an outbrake. This is so impractical as wild birds carrying the disease will simply carry on further. Also, since farmers are supposed to vaccine animals anyway I don't think that one more injection would really cause to much trouble.

I think that if the government has time to go round killing things they must have time to go round vaccinating things aswell. Or is it that they just think its easier to kill things than try and save lives? I bet we won't see them going round culling humans if one of us gets it.

Yeah thats one of the downsides to the vaccine idea and evidently anything that costs alot of money isn't worth spending on animals according to the government. I guess the only thing i can do is keep feeding the birds in my garden, regardless of what anyone says and if i get bird flu, oh well
