ellie ex-friend Falling In Love With The Board ![]() Age: 31 Gender: Female Posts: 7772 | It is if you choose to meet someone. I mean, I trust that alot of the people here are actually who they say they are. I'd like to meet them, but I know I can't. |
The Rev Addict ![]() Age: 38 Gender: Male Posts: 14004 | Simplly talking to someone. No. but if you decide to meet someone off the net, or give them Personal information like Phone number, or address or something then Yes, the risk of it being more dangerous is a lot Higher. |
BestCheeseInTown Geek ![]() Age: - Gender: - Posts: 432 | Those survey things on MySpace and Xanga and such, pretty much all of my friends have one on their page. Most of them actaully ask your full name, height, weight, age, eye color, location, blah blah blah. Those things scare me. |
Babi Kid Rachy King For A Couple Of Days ![]() Age: 31 Gender: Female Posts: 4512 | I set my profile to private, and keep my information safe. And i check peoples myspace before I press accept. I'm pretty much safe. |
ColleenStarship Addict ![]() Age: 32 Gender: Female Posts: 11991 | >Cheese<: but the thing is ..... you don't need to put all of that real info i lie on those things all of the time hell i usually put some celeb's last name (as though i'm married to them ![]() ![]() there are ways to get around thsoe things and some sites require REAL zip codes, if so i put some random one usually a known town nearby |
Kurtni Admin ![]() Age: 33 Gender: Female Posts: 34289 ![]() ![]() | Viva La Stupid: .. you can lie about stuff like that... but with an IP code you dont have to tell them anything, it tells them all that stuff about your location. I dont think its as dangerous as some people like to think, not every single person is a rapist or something, but you guys are making it out like there is no danger at all. yeah, there is, you have to decide if you're willing to take that risk and know about the sites you're on. |
Mia-0210 Idiot ![]() Age: 31 Gender: Female Posts: 523 ![]() ![]() | I always make my cotact talk with me on the phone or turn on a webcam before proceeding to speak. It's a standard procedure |
ColleenStarship Addict ![]() Age: 32 Gender: Female Posts: 11991 | Foamy the Squirrel: talk on the phone? that seems more dangerous they have your phone number or the opposite they can check thier phone records and get your number back |
fancy pants Post Whore ![]() Age: 37 Gender: Female Posts: 22225 | Viva La Stupid:Yeah and with a phone number, it's quite easy to get an address. |
Anji Basket Case ![]() Age: 35 Gender: Female Posts: 15914 ![]() | fancy pants:I have this program that can track down all of your IP addresses. ![]() ![]() I swear, I don't use it...but I caaaan. ![]() It's really cool, cause then it pin points exactly where your computer is. I don't know how I got it, I just know I have it. |
ColleenStarship Addict ![]() Age: 32 Gender: Female Posts: 11991 | Anji: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() i do trust people here though everyone is so close, some have even met each other and i talk to alot of those people its sites like myspace that worry me a bit not ecause of whats being said on my profile but the fact that its WSO well known and there are SO many people |
Anji Basket Case ![]() Age: 35 Gender: Female Posts: 15914 ![]() | It was even better way, waaaay back when there were fewer people on here and people didn't make phoney userames and personas and stuff. |
ColleenStarship Addict ![]() Age: 32 Gender: Female Posts: 11991 | yeah like i have no problem talking to people i'm actually more likly to talk to someone online then in the real world ..... if i get a bad vibe i delete/block them |
Jesus_of_surburbia_74 King For A Couple Of Days ![]() Age: 33 Gender: Female Posts: 3739 ![]() | Denends how far you go, like if you organise to meet them, which i npersonally wouldn't do, but people can get your ip address easily, like on piczo when someone leaves a comment your ip is left, i wouldnt do anything bad with it or anything, but it can be left that easily |
wish_i_was_adie Jackass ![]() Age: 43 Gender: Female Posts: 1092 ![]() | As long as you're careful I don't see a problem with it. |
gd'sDiana Geek ![]() Age: 32 Gender: Female Posts: 182 | i don't think it's bad talking to ppl on the internet, but i mean, you are not going to talk to someone that you think it could be dangerous...unless you are stupid... |
Plug In Baby. Addict ![]() Age: 34 Gender: Female Posts: 11334 | gd'sDiana: But how can you tell? I mean, they may seem perfectly normal at first, and they build up your trust, and then they start asking more personal questions, and because you trust them, you answer the questions. I was pretty stupid, I gave out my phone number, my full name, my address to some people on the internet. I had never met them before. And then I flew up to Brisbane to meet them. They turned out to be real people, and not peadophiles, but it was still pretty stupid. |
