I agree. I don't follow Christianity, but at least I am knowledgable about it, more so than many people at my school, who actually do believe in God.

I'm not saying I don't believe in him. I'm undecided on that. I just don't agree with the modern day church, and many of their teachings, and much of their hypocrisy. (I hope that is the word. I'm having a really big mental blank right now)

Neither am I (a Christian, I mean), but obviously I don't have a problem with people slating it. But for heaven's sake, know what you're talking about!.

The weirdest thing is, nobody picks up on the real issues. Everybody is all "oMgZ Jesus smoked opium1111!!" or "Adam and Eve aren't real", and therefore Christianity is false. I'm struggling even to think of the last person who presented a sensible argument against Christianity, but I can't even remeber. And it's not like there isn't loopholes to exploit, believe me Think

Yeah, I know. But, most people I've come across who are trying to prove that he isn't real have been on Vampire Freaks, and were trying desperatly into the "goth" image, whatever that would be.

(Well, this is from past experiences. I haven't been on there for over a year, so I wouldn't know what its like on that site anymore.)

And they only pick out things that are silly. I mean, if they were actually taught anything about Christianity, they would know that it was a story. Not a true factual recount of events. A story to explain something.

I know that there are actual loops holes. Another thing that I pick up on is the idea that the good people will be sad, and the sad people will be happy (or sometimes, stay sad). I don't get this, so could anyone explain what they mean?
YES. Yes, yes, y-e-s.

I get tired of talking to fundamentalists who take the Bible word for word, not stopping to accept that maybe, just maybe, Jesus had heard of metaphors...? And he liked that idea?

"And God said unto the World, 'Let there be metaphors.' And there was an abundance of metaphors. And Robert Frost wet himself with joy."

"And yea, Jesus spake unto the Father, 'Good job, Dad.' And God spake unto Jesus, 'Why thank you, Jesus. Now go unto the world, speak my Word, and get nailed onto a wooden thing in Rome.'"

(Now I'll get some hate mail, but it was worth it.)

I'm an Indigo Aura, if you believe in that stuff, and I sort of . . . know, if that makes sense. No Bible or Christian shit, just me and my meditation with my rock music (it calms me more than anything else . . . even shit like Metallica . . .) and my angels and sometimes I'll even say something directly to the Goddess (is that PRAYING?) I get picked on because I'm always reading about some religion but I don't really give a shit, I read about it because I like to and I practice Paganism (I fucking hate those terms . . .) because I believe in it.

Nobody should be able to tell you whether to believe in the Goddess (or by any other name . . .). You just do or you don't and there IS really no right way to think or to worship or to practice religion or go about your fucking daily lives because it's YOUR life so even this THREAD undermines the fact that people believe in God.

That's just my thoughts. And remember I said that nobody can tell you how to live your life, so this thread is technically allowed by what I've told you . . .

I don't believe in God for quite a few reasons.

1. I didn't grow up on going to church and never learned about God.

2. I'm very logical and scientific. I don't believe that God made everything in 8 days. [8 days right?] There is proof of evolution [fossils, rock formations, etc] The only proof of God is the Bible and word. No one really knows what happens when you die, but I stand by not believing in God.

So were the expert scientists who wrote the cosmological theory...they believed in God. And I have to say they were all very intelligent people, who had very logical arguments pro-God.

*PS. 6 days. But I won't rant at you, it's okay seeing as you wern't slating christianity.

I have a lot of respect for people who actually believe in their religion. Because many people don't care about their religion.

Wrong how?

You can't just prove a book 'wrong'. Animal Farm is 'wrong', Goldilocks is 'wrong'. It doesn't mean anything when you say it like that.

Anyone watch that programme Tuesday night, BBC2, 11.10pm on Evangelical Christianity in Africa? With the exorcism they perform on children, believing they have something called "Kinoki" [I THINK, I can't really remember] which is witchcraft. It was disgusting.
No offence to anyone here if you are an African Evangelist Christian, I'm pretty certain they weren't all like that, just the really "hardcore" ones. I couldn't get over it.

I don't believe in god.

I personally think [don't wanna insult/offend anybody] that some people, who believe in god, are just kinda lazy .. they won't take the Responsibility or someting .. so they can blame God, if something went wrong. But we are responsibly for our Life and our health ..

Even if it were proof God exists, I wouldn't be religous.

I think the whole Religion thing is kinda Rubbish.

Well, what I'm gonna say is kinda off topic, but I remember that when I was reading Bible (that was VERY long ago, I don't remember much now) I've noticed sort of a story about a tribe which came to Jews (yes, that's the Old Testament) in order to ask them if they could be introduced to their religion because they wanted to pray to God more that anything else. Jews said no. And I think that was not fair. They really asked politely... And Jews had that attitude 'No, back up, that's our God and nobody's else'... Confused

Personally I just don't like the idea of adopting this whole set of doctrines and rules etc. worshipping a 'supreme being/higher power' based purely on faith. I just don't have it in me.
But each to their own.
