nobody is saying that they're not human (even though SOMTIMES it is difficult to understand) we are saying that they shouldnt have cable and be bale to have home visits, they are after all there to be punished. Why shoudl they ahave all the things that some poeple out of prison struggle to get?

| June 18th, 2006 at 03:16pm shoplifters and people like that should be allowed good conditions. however, rapists, murderers, child abusers etc, should NOT get any privelidges. they do not deserve decent conditions. they have violated basic human rights through their actions, that should cancel theirs. its like that court case where Saddam Hussein claimed that his human rights had been violated. what right do people like this have to talk about human rights? |

Giving them TV's is like saying, "Oh, you shot that man, stay here, keep all your luxaries, and we'll have the taxed citizens pay for everything."
Not much of a punishment if you ask me.
yes but depending on the crime, i do belive that murderers etc should be keot in prison for a min of 10 years and aloud out as long as they do not even look at someone in a threatening way agian, if they kill agian it should be life. But we must remeber that not all circumstances are the same. I think in AUstralia a women was in prison for about 12 years after murdering her husband in slef defeense after being physical and mentally abusedd for the entirity of their marrige. I dont think she should have gone to prison. Therapy would ahve been much better. Prisons really are horrible places, i dont know why everyone is going on about tv's when the prisoners are quite often raped, forced to get tatoos, do dangerous stunts just sop the other prisoners dont attack them. |

Quite often, the court looks at the mental health etc of a person, and uses that in their descision.
I agree that she should have gone to therapy, or gone to one of those jail thingys where its for people with mental illnesses, which sometimes happens when the person who committed the crime's mental health is in question |

so she killed her husband, two wrongs dont make a right. i am not in any shape or form saying that its a mans place to hit his wife because ITS NOT but however she couldve left, she couldve called the police and she couldve gone into a hostle for battered women, killing is not a good thing for anyone to day, and yes of course she shouldve gone to prison, what if she was beating her husband and he killed HER would that be any differant? |

she killed him ins elf defense, not pre meditiated murder. She had no choice it was kill or be killed. Its not that easy to move into a womens refuge. Soemtimes the mend ont even elt there women or vice versa out of the house. And they can always go to a refuge and force them out and abck hoem |

not really, the only thing is the man should have been that men are usually physically stronger. I think that it is rare but not as reported as it should because im sure its prolly much more shame to admit that your wife bashes you than your boy |

Its not always possible to leave domestic violence. You can't always just do things.
Arugh. It pisses me off so much when people say "Well, they should have left and done this" or "they should have stopped" etc. Its just not possible all the time! Gah! It annoys me so much! It happes in nthe smoking thread and the drinking thread as well, its so annoying!
I wish people would open their eyes and understand what goes on in another person's head!

And back to what I was saying. Sometimes there are factors that make you unable to leave domestic violence. So she may not have been able to leave, just like that. |

i havent been in that situation thank god, so i dont know what i would have done, its easy saying this and that. but you never know until your tested. If he tried to kill my kids then i guess i would smash him over the head with somthing but not kill him. I would hit him with somthing and then grab my kids and run for my life screaming down the road. |

well yeah! Thats is GBH, they were both stupid in that predicament, perhaps your brother should just have walked away, however there are many crimes that go unsolved and that is wrong, i can see why it seems unfair for your brother but he did hurt some one. Also what do you eapect prisoners have Cashmere carpets and butler service? |
