So politics equals squat.
The president can go blow himself up and the whole White House and the
United Nations with him, for all I care.
See, to me politics=bullshit.
The government will always be crooked, and no matter what little short
dudes in tight black pants and eyeliner say, it will forever try to corrupt
the people.
Billie says we don't have to do what they say and that we are the leaders.
Well what exactly does he mean?
If I sent a petition to my school principal, he'd rip it up before reading it.
If I went streaking across a football field, I would get arrested.
Things like that aren't going to change, so why whine about it?
That's what it seems like Green Day did with American Idiot.
And I love how Billie dared to suggest that other bands weren't "taking a
risk" with music...what the hell, are you joking?
Almost every band out there has their political views and opinions, it's
called, they aren't going to "rebel". Oh yeah, Green Day is SO rebellious
that they got millions of little 10 yr olds following them around, chanting
"I hate George W. Bush, he's an American Idiot"
Oh yes, Green Day are SO badass, rebelling against the government and all.
As you can see, I think about everything like this, and I like to talk about it.
While I love Green Day, I HATE politics and I hate that they're wrapped up
in politics....with a fiery passion. |

WE don't know if Green Day knows much about politics, the thing is,
they don't make much of a statement except "George Bush sucks, 911 was
sad" And THAT is the general opinion of the public right now. So once
again, I don't know how that is being "risky".
The thing is, Green Day said what they are trying to do is inform the public
to be more aware of the government and politics, to go out and buy
the newspaper and to watch the news every night.
That's fine. The only problem is that kids aren't doing that. They are accepting
what Green Day says, instead of forming their own views. |

Yeah your right. After 9/11 I have been paying attention to the news a lot. It scaries me, but I feel that what the government is doing is right.
I'm only 17, and people don't think I know much about politics, but I knowmore than the average teen.
My parents definitely persuade me into what they believe, but when I look at the facts it all makes sense to me. |
