good riddance. i think it's actually statistic.
i read in some "acoustic songs" article that good riddance was green day's most played or most popular song by them in general.

it never even reached #1 on the charts.......

It doesn't matter. Charts are mostly rigged anyway. Good Riddance is the most well-known song, and probably is the most popular if you look at the whole history of the band... Think I just don't think charts play that much of a role really Image

that might be because [maybe] most of its publicity happened after 1997? just a guess. i don't know the real deal, but in my opinion, it seems kind of logical. and if i'm incorrect, either the magazine is wrong, or charts played a bigger role than i thought. i don't really think charts are all that matters in determining their most popular song, but i don't know any better. if i'm confusing, please say something like cheese because i think i just confused myself. Shocked

ps; i edited it so it's less confusing.

Tough call, but for me it's either Boulevard of Broken Dreams or Good Riddance.

i think it's Boulevard of Broken Dreams...at least here in Germany. That's the song everyone knows even if they don't know the band.

well, Boulevard actually went the highest in the charts, peaking at #2 on the Hot 100. Prior to AI, none of Green Day's singles have even charted on the Hot 100. I voted good riddance, though...

also, When I Come Around had more airplay than Basket Case. Why neither Good Riddance nor When I Come Around aren't on this poll mystifies me. *is mystified*
