You know, now that I think about it they DO have pretty much the same chord progression. I never noticed that before. I doubt Billie Joe stole it on purpose, though. A LOT of songs have similar progressions.
even if both songs have the same chords it isnt copying cuz there arent enough chords for everyone to use different ones.Anyways the songs are different in their own ways Green Day totally kick oasis' ass. Noel just doesnt like any band being better than his

Eh...I don't know if I agree with that.
I guess in popularity and album sales terms, Green Day are better, but in my own opinion, I think Oasis is way better...
1) Both songs have similar or the same chords.
2) BOBD won the Grammy and gained worldwide fame and whatever. Wonderwall is also an extremely liked song, but haven't been so much awarded. If they are the same, why so?
3) At least half of the people here like one of the songs and loathe the other. And I'm repeating, why so, if they're identical?
4) In my opinion, the songs are really similar. But not that much, to be considered as the one. Maybe GD ripped it off and made the better/worse one, maybe they didn't. We'll never know, unless some Yellow Pony flies from the sky and tells us. I mean, guys, don't bite each other. If there is somebody interested in biting it'll be Noel and/or Billie.
The perennially jovial Noel Gallagher has accused Green Day of ripping off Oasis' biggest hit, "Wonderwall." He says "Boulevard of Broken Dreams" is "exactly the same arrangement." He continues by saying "They should have the decency to wait until I am dead (before releasing this). I, at least, pay the people I steal from that courtesy." He also says of Green Day "They consider themselves to be - and I quote - 'a kick-ass rock 'n' roll band'. They could not be less kick-ass if they tried."
well if oasis made more than one good song i may have considered their opinins
a bit late, sorry....one good song? you gotta be kiddin' me, dude... oasis is a legend and so is Noel, as one of you already said. And if you know just a bit of Noel's personality...well I wouldn't have to explaine. Oasis is actually considered a neo-Beatles, I hope you have heard of them, dear uhm...yournewarchnemesis? Oasis is pure rock n roll, not like GD. And, yes the two songs have some riffs in common. Happens...maybe cause BJ once even said that, to him, Oasis is the second best rock n roll band in the world.
