Remarkable Rocket Falling In Love With The Board ![]() Age: 36 Gender: Female Posts: 5761 | My neice has ADHD.. she now takes no medication for it.... When she did take ritalin... it was HORIBLE for her... she was never able to sleep.. she never had an apetite... she was so thin it was unhealthy and scary. She used to sit around for hours on end picking the skin in between her toes and fingers for HOURS until it bled... It just wasn't good for her... it turned her into a zombie. She's off of it now... and she can have her tantrums and be a little over talkative.. but she's growing out of it... and is finally at a healthy weight.... Most kids will grow out of it... For these reasons.. I am against the use of ritalin.. I don't know how other drugs work though. |

Lucifers Angel King For A Couple Of Days ![]() Age: - Gender: Female Posts: 4751 | catch_22: but the medication works differantly for differant people, no two people are the same. my sons are doing very well on it and will stay on it, until they are old enough to make a decision about what they want to do then. |
frizzle Geek ![]() Age: 34 Gender: Female Posts: 165 | Almost my whole family has ADHD, my brother (23) even my father(40something, weird, I never heard something about someone with ADHD so old..) so adults can have ADHD, my brother takes drugs(dunno if it's ritalin or something) my father doesn't, my little brother(10) is on ritalin.. The weird thing is only the 'boys' in my family have ADHD. Everyone I know with ADHD is male.. (not much: some family members & a friend) Weird.. I think ritalin/other do drugs help.. |

Lucifers Angel King For A Couple Of Days ![]() Age: - Gender: Female Posts: 4751 | Hashimoto: so kids you know will tease children with ADD because its fun, BRILLIANT!!! what a great way to pass time. That will make the children with ADD insecure, |
Lucifers Angel King For A Couple Of Days ![]() Age: - Gender: Female Posts: 4751 | Scary Mhairi Scaring Kids: yes it is mean, its hard enough for the child to cope with having ADD and ADHD without having people poking at them for a reacton, why dont they live with it for a while and see how hard it can be. |

Lucifers Angel King For A Couple Of Days ![]() Age: - Gender: Female Posts: 4751 | I_worship_tre_Cool: my son sleeps about 3 hours a night and then he's awake and playng for the rest of the day, he doesnt eat but he gets special dietary drinks and food that helps him keep to his right weight for him, but we have taken him of the medication and he is twice has bad so we had to make a decison based of what we and the dr saw. |
Insurgentes Post Whore ![]() Age: 37 Gender: Female Posts: 23688 ![]() | My brother and sister were both diagnosed by the family doctor as having ADD and ADHD. My sister had ADD while my brother had ADHD. They still do actually. They were prescribed ritalin for it. Bah, ritalin! Most evil thing I tell you what. When I was 7, my doctor, wouldn't even test me for ADHD, just said since my brother had it, I must have it too. She put me on the actual ritalin for it. The first time I took it, I threw up three times. My grades soon began to drop, I became wirey, unable to sit still, got headaches daily, and was unable to sleep at night. I've read in a medical book my grandpa had, that it isn't safe to take ritalin for more than 5 consecutive years. Not sure how true this is, but I was kept on it for a good 7-8 years. I was started out on the 5mg tablets, and every time the doctor saw me, she raised my dosage. I eventually ended up having to take 20mg tablets, three times a day. My grades went from like straight A's, to D's and F's. Lovely. ![]() In any case, Ritalin is said to have the opposite effect on children who lack the disorder. It will make a child without ADD/ADHD, wirey, unable to focus, and much like a child who does have it. While it calms a child who does. I was actually refused when I told my doctor it was making me do horribly in school. My mom pulled me off of it in the ninth grade, when I was making 1.0's. My first grading period without it, I made a 3.1 All in all, that's about my experience with people who had it, and those misdiagnose/untested and given the drugs to control what they don't have. |
Lucifers Angel King For A Couple Of Days ![]() Age: - Gender: Female Posts: 4751 | [Steph]Angel Of My Dreams: yes ritalin does have the opposite effects on children who done have the disorder, but the doctor shouldve done a score sheet to decide better if you had ADHD/ADD, there are still loads of quacks out there who just throw tablets at children and not deal with the issue properly, my sons doctor wrote to his school and got reports of them, (unfortunalty his teacher at the time said that he didnt have ADHD because she was a born again christian and she didnt believe in ADHD/ADD) But after fighting the schools and sending my son to a better school he has now got the help that he needs, he is more attentive at school and is able to play with his brother and sister better, also i think it would help is people would stop saying "ritalin is the most evil thing in the world" us has perants already have to fight to get the help for our children has it is, |
