I always assumed that they lived off James' inheritance while Harry was young and then planned to get jobs when he was a bit older.

Yeah, I looked at that Q&A and I got really annoyed when people were asking questions which were answered in the book. Like "How did Aberforth get the mirror?" I mean come on!!!!!

She didn't say what Harry or Ron did as careers though...hmm.

She's answered that earlier. They're Aurors but they 'revolutionised' the Ministry with their approach.

I clearly remember her saying Kingsley became permanent Minister for Magic, and wanted Harry to head up his Auror Department, but I've tried ctrl-F'ing the page with different things, but I can't find it anywhere.

Well James came from a pureblood family, so I'm assuming his parents were rich (he sounds like he was a rich kid when he was at Hogwarts) and when they died, he inherited everything, and then when James and Lily died, Harry got what was left over.

I mean, Sirius was going to get himself a place with a bit of gold his uncle left him, so I imagine James would have had a lot, being an only child and also he was only out of Hogwarts four about four years when he died, and I don't think his parents died when he was at Hogwarts, so he wouldn't have had much time to spend all that money.

ERGO, there would have been a fair bit of money left for Harry.

Oh, ok.

You know what I'd like, for the Oder of the Pheonix and Dumbledore's Army to be official departments of the Ministry of Magic. I just think that it's be nice.

I never thought of that, it would be awesome really.

The Order would be higher than an Auror and Dubledore's Army would be a little lower.

It'd be cool though.
