Austraila, Sydney SuperDome, March 8th, 2005

This was a really great concert. Simple Plan was opening and i don't really like them so i sat out side with the rest of the Greenday fans who couldn't stand to listen to the whiny voice of the lead singer as he sang 'Perfect'. After going back in to keep my friend company i listened to their final two songs while scream over 12 year girls for them to get off the stage and bring out what every one came here to see (bar the loser girls in the 12-15 year old age bracket who were there just to see Simple Plan) Finally after 35 mins of waiting Simple Plan where over and the lagendary Greenday was about to grace the stage with their presents and as soon as they did the agony that i felt because of the crapness of Simple Plan was washed away with the voice of Billie Joe. This was more then a concert it was a show and Billie, Mike and Tre were truely the showman, they did more then just play their great songs they interacted with the audience: Billie brought out super soakers out and got a kid up on stage to wet the mosh pit, Billie then asked for 3 audience members to play each of their instuments a 17 yr old guy played the drams and surpassed everyones exspectation and did his own little drum solo which i believe impress the Greenday guys they got a girl to play the bass (she was kind of crap but gave it a good go) and a 21 yr old guy played the lead and to everyones amazement they didn't sound have bad. Highlight of that moment was when Billie kissed the 21 yr old guy on the mouth and asked him if he had ever had sex before but the guy had a chance to responed Billie said 'YOU WILL TONIGHT!' after their 5 mins of fame the 17yr old drummer got drum sticks and stage dived Billie gave his guitar to the 21 yr old. Other highlights and funny moments were when the audience were copying every thing Billie said and then he started to strangly moan and precided to but his hands down his paints and wanke himself the screamed out "SOMEBODY FUCK ME" even in the weirdness of it all everyone including me where screaming he was like god and could do no wrong. I m ashamed to say but i had only heard the new album once before that night and didn't know their songs all that well but i was hoping that they would play some of their old stuff and they did it was FANTASTIC they opened with 'American Idiot' and then played 'Jesus of Suburbia' then 'Longview' by that stage i was going crazy with my friend. What really pissed me off though when 'Longview' was playing was the Simple Plan fans infront of us were like "whats the name of this song, Is it new" You could really tell the old Greenday fans from the new ones. They also played 'Brain-stew', 'Jaded', 'When i come around' and 'hitchin' a Ride' and did their own version of Queen's 'We are the Champions' and 'Shout'. This was truely the greatest concert ever and meet my exspectation and timed them by 100. This was what a real rock concert is surposed to be like. I really want to see them again but their record for coming to Australia isn't that great the last time they came was in 96' that was nine years ago. i cant wait that long so COME BACK TO AUSTRALIA SOON!!!
