Is it just me?...
Okay, how many here had a favorite band and they grew out of them? *raises hand*
Well, I shouldn't say grew out of them, but had a dry spell. I do believe it's starting to happen to me. Which, to that, you would probably say "That's fine. Why are you making a blog about it?" Well, that is normally the case. One Problem. It just happens to be with Green Day. *hangs head in shame*
They just don't speak to me anymore like they use to. I listen one of their songs and I get bored. I don't care anymore that I wasn't at Milton Keynes Bowl when they performed, and I'm starting to forget their personalities. You know, when you know so much about the band that it feels like you know their personalities?
Meanwhile, as I'm writing this, I'm listening to My Chemical Romance, just like I have nonstop for the past week. I am starting to believe they are my new favorite band. Plus, I saw them in concert which really doesn't help matters none since I've never seen Green Day live. I know that shouldn't matter but to me it does. In my defense, THEY SPEAK TO ME!!! I've never related to someone so closely like I have with Gerard and Frank. NEVER! And I know there's a lot of people out there who can't stand My Chemical romance and are thinking, 'Why do you like them?!' But, they speak to me.
Don't get me wrong, THERE WILL ALWAYS BE A SPECIAL PLACE IN MY HEART FOR GREEN DAY. If it wasn't for them, I wouldn't be into the music I am today. They actually got me into My Chemical Romance.
I know this isn't important but is there anyone else out there who feels the same way?

You can't not expect this to happen.
I mean, who here used to like the Spice Girls, Nsync, Backstreet Boys, and all other stupid band names synonymous with ninties music?

i love Green Day to death. They got me into EVERYTHING. EVERY single punk band out there started because i woke up on that saturday morning, turned on the TV, and saw American Idiot being played form there.

I still love Green Day. I just miss them a lot right now. I miss seeing them on tv, and always hearing so much news for them. Right now it feels as if they don't exist as much as they used to. But I'll always love Green Day. They got me into this side of music. Sometimes I forget how much I love them. I end up looking at pictures of them and listening to their music.. That's what reminds me of everything they've ever taught me. And them being on this little break has introduced me to so many other bands. But right now for all I know, they're number one. As cheesy as it sounds...even if one day they're not, they'll always have a special place in my heart. =)

Agreed, only my new band is AFI.

I know what you mean, its almost the same wth me, green day has been one of my favorites, for a very long time, but they've started fading away as i've started listening to some other bands like Placebo and HIM, Their music just speaks more to me than green day's, especially Placebo's. Its kinda weird. I used to listen to FFTL alot too...for like a month or two, but i havent listened to not even one song in the past two-three weeks, and i dont feel the need to either. I think that with certain emotions you pick a certain band to listen to cause they fit your mood. Like right now Placebo with me cause some songs fit with the way i feel. Its alright, we all grow out of our favorites.

MCR is great because it's as if the guys know me, as if they understand all the sh*t I go through, which I haven't even written about here. Honestly, I think they really do understand their fans.
But Green Day still rocks, and as long as they stay in your heart and on your iPod, you remain a true fan.

Love, I wouldn't worry in the slightest, the band are on their quiet time, so there's not that much to be ecstatic about. It's true that Green Day will always be in you're heart. If you listened to one band a lot the human body does become immune to its great sound. Personalities ect will always be there. If your finding it hard to relate I find it always good to go on mibba and submit a story about them or read some of the stories, some of the characters come back and you start to find yourself really into their lifestyle ect. And I know your not totally bummed by not being at Milton Keynes!!!

I used to be abit obsessed with Green Day and for quite a while they were the only band I ever listened to but then eventually I realised that was just stupid so I began getting into other bands. Because of Green Day I started listening to The Ramones and now they are one of my favourites so I have Green Day to thank for that. Though Green Day are my fav of all time I like other bands. Maybe listening to My Chemical Romance is a good thing and in a few mothes time you will hear an old Green Day song and it will mean more to you than when you were hearing it all the time.

I love green day, no matter what they'll be my number one band, but I still like heaps of other bands. The one thing I have to remember though, is that Green Day originally started me with liking this type of music, so if it wasn't for them I wouldn't like any of my other favourite bands either, so they're always number one.

Green Day are my favorite band still, but only because they've changed my life.
My favorite band involving music changes all the time.
Currently it's Arcade Fire and Rediscover.
When they put out their new album, They'll be right back up there.
Just hold on.

Green Day have been my favourite ever since I heard them. So..that's nearly three years now.
I don't think I'll ever grow out of them. At least I hope not. While I write this, Green Day plays from my playlist. It's on random too. Weird.
Lately though I've been listening to The Fratellis a lot. Although they're a great band, and I love them to death, they'll never be a Green Day to me. *eerie music* As I wrote Fratellis, The Fratellis started playing. o.o
But yes. Green Day were my first favourite band. I love them to death. Listening to songs I haven't heard in ages just makes me remember why I loved them in the first place. Makes me love them even more.
I think there's three types of Green Day fans.
1. The hangers on - Green Day will always remain their favourite band, even when they're not in the limelight.
2. The drifters - They always hold a spot for Green Day, but they'll drift to another band when Green Day aren't in the spotlight anymore
3. The teenies - They'll love Green Day while they're "in", then dump them when they're out.
That's all I have to say.

I'm sure everyone's like that. :]
I was, and still am, obsessed with Green Day. Just.. maybe on a smaller degree. I still love them to death.
I find that if a band is really good, and you really love them, even if you do have a 'dry spell' once in a while, you'll always find yourself coming back to them.
The ones you grow out of are the ones you listen to, and forget about a couple weeks later. :] That's how I determine my absolute favourite bands.
Hello, My Name Is Asshole, April 26th, 2007 at 10:44:50pm
I used to be obsessed with green day.
now, I can't stand their guts.
I might convert back,
but I doubt it.
....again, just rambles..
Sara., April 26th, 2007 at 10:34:32pm
*raises hand* I do. Green Day were up in my top favourites for so long. I'd first heard them at the age of 6 or so and they continued to remain a solid favourite up until I turned 19. I don't know quite what caused it, but I got bored with them. When my iTunes shuffle picks a Green Day song, I have to change it.
As I am writing this, my favourite band is U2. However I am not shameful.
Honestly, everyone grows out of everything at some point in their lives. When you're young, it's things like bands, habits, stuff like that. They're kinda like, spells if you will. They come and go. Some lasting longer than others. Some hardly lasting over a week. It depends on the person. As you grow older and learn of other things, new things, your old favourites get replaced, despite you saying in your head: "NOTHING can ever take them out of my top spot. Nothing." Because it eventually will happen, sooner or later.
It's a perfectly normal part of life that this happens. Your previous tastes are what inspires your new tastes, if that makes sense. They influece you into other bands and the cycle continues.
Okay, now I'm just rambling. But that's my thoughts and experiences on that.
