One of a kind-bands.

I'm a member of last fm, and if you don't know what that is, I'll explain to you. When you sign up you get your personal 'radio station' that plays music similiar to your favorite artists.
I've used the function for a while, but I keep realizing that it's not really the best thing I know.

You see, I like bands that are one of a kind.
If I type in Green Day on the radio station, I get results such as Yellowcard, Taking Back Sunday, Sugarcult and The Ataris.
I've got nothing against those bands, I do like some of their songs, but I could never get really into one of them. Because to me, they sound the same.

Green Day are my favorite band on earth. I guess you heard enough of 'Green Day saved my life'-stories, but if you've been there too, you know what I'm talking about.
Without Green Day, I would still be the tv-and-cookies person I was two and a half years ago. If it weren't for Green Day, I wouldn't have played with my wonderful band, I wouldn't have realized the joy of creating, I wouldn't express myself through music... the list goes on. I am in a huge debt to them. I wish I could pay it back.

The reason I like them is how they stand out from the crowd. In two ways.
There are more bands than Green Day who stand out of the MTV-sort of crowd, but when you put those sensational bands together - those who stand out from MTV - most of them won't stand out of each other.
But Green Day does. They're a phenomenon!
I suppose you know why I think so, so I won't reel off my reasons.

There is just no other band like them. Oh yes, a zillion bands out there are also labeled 'punkpop' or 'punkrock' but sound the same. I can't get deeply into them. That's probably why I have a wide music taste.

Sex Pistols is my second best. That's not because I consider them not as good as Green Day, it's probably because I discovered Green Day first, and they happened to be the ones who taught me so much.
Sex Pistols were original, weren't they? You can mention The Damned, Dead Kennedys, New York Dolls - but none of them just can't be the Sex Pistols.
All the bands I mentioned stood out from the world and our surroundings - but Sex Pistols were one step further. They stood out from those of the same kind.

Sex Pistols opened thousands of new doors. I believe the shock factor they used was good. You might call it sellout or whatsoever, but their amazing message wouldn't have reached half of the people it did without the shocking acts. Music today wouldn't be the same if it weren't for them. The rock culture would have gone on and on and on without any further changes. If you erased them from history, there would be a huge gap. They left so many side-effects, which makes their message and music still alive today.
Sex Pistols said what so many thought but didn't utter, they did the things people wished they could do - they made it okay. I think it's an important note in both music, life-styles and politics.

I just felt like writing this, because I absolutely adore and love music that's original. Music that you just can't copy, no matter how hard you try.
