I do care. It's just that I couldn't care about animals being killed so we can eat D: I mean, they are given a good life before they are killed in some circumstances.
no theyre not!

From what I've seen in Australia they are. Well, cows anyway. They have wonderful, spacious, lush green padocks to roam around in, plenty of food and water and a whole lot of cow friends to cow talk to. What more could a cow want ?
Oh gosh ._. I'm not too fussed about what I eat, just as long as I enjoy it. I enjoy meat. I really couldn't give a damn if there are chemicals in my food, far out. OH NO I'M GOING TO DIE AND GET FAT FOR HAVING CHEMICALS IN MY FOOD OH NO. I really couldn't care about animal cruelty and whatever. I will most probably deteriorate because meat makes up a HUGE amount of what I eat and I need meat to function. Oh and please, I'm not this horrible, cruel person for eating meat either. I'm really sick of people making humans out to be horrible.
I don't recall calling you, or humans for that matter horrible. Ignorant perhaps, if you don't care about animal crueltly at all, but not horrible.

The key word there is SOME, and even that's debateable. How do you define "good"?

I've also heard that animals are treated like shit there. It's just as bad as the US
and you dont eat australian meat.

Actually I'm pretty sure I eat australian meat. Even Macdonalds has Australian meat. Over here we're pretty big on helping out the farmers since there is a drought so we buy Australian goods. Plus, it's better quality meat The butchers here do grow there own produce right ? Well, it's probably a different stroy over there. Just out past my property there is a farm with angus cows and they have plenty of room. It's not like Japan where they have stables like horses for the cows. Even the horses here aren't kept in stables much.

I said this earlier and it's from what I have seen in Australia. It is probably a different story over there. From what I've seen in Australia they are. Well, cows anyway. It's not great that the whole reason that they are alive and bred and kept alive is to beef them up so we can eventually have them on our plate, but at least here they are given a good life before they are killed. It's not like they are tortured.

I'm thinking that there are also pesticides involved in vegetable and fruit production.
Unless people eat organic. Then again, I guess a lot of vegetarians don't have a problem with organic meat, either.
Animals and plants aren't the same thing. I feel sympathy for an animal kept in unnatural conditions. A carrot? Not so much.
(why does this remind me of the rats and potatoes discussion? )
I don't know; I wasn't really going for the sympathy argument, more the danger of pesticides generally, since someone mentioned it.
I mean, pesticides can be dangerous, whatever we eat. It's the method of production rather than the product itself, I suppose.

yeah, like I said, eating organic (or better yet hunting) pretty much eliminates the crowded conditions, poisions, pesticides, ridiculous amount of sat. fat etc

Oh please, dairy cows are treated just as poorly in Australia as they are anywhere else. Of course you haven't seen it, I doubt those companies put on display how they keep their dairy cows nearly permanently pregnant and strip them of their calves to make veal. Sure they have nice pastures, but that doesn't change the fact that every other part of their life sucks.

I know, I said that too. xD
I think most people can agree that eating organic, whether plant or animal, is preferable, because in all cases, it's more 'natural' (although I will probably get criticised for saying that by someone, it seems like a controversial word to use in a vegetarian debate). The only real problem with organic food is the cost; in Britain, it's far more expensive, and I'm guessing it is everywhere else. It's also become very, well, proper to eat organic food. Very middle-class and eco. There's a superiority complex about it, some of the time. But it's all a good thing.

But isn't that the only way to have them produce milk, by having them produce calves?
In that case, do you drink milk yourself? Or do you see it as unethical?
I mean, I'm not being critical or anything. Genuinely interested here

I tried to give up cow's milk a while ago, because it isn't really 'natural' (sorry, there it is again), when you think about it, to be drinking milk as an adult, never mind milk from another animal! But Rice Milk is just sooooooo goddamn sweet.

Well, this is aggravating, we have a new group of hardcore PETA supporters in my town.
They called me and my friends disgusting because we were eating at Wendy's and they were staging some kind of protest, so I yelled at them for killing plants. (no offence meant to vegetarians, I just wanted a comeback)
But seriously, some people are completely ignorant about meat eaters, it's like stfu I'm eating a hamburger, I'm not kicking puppies in front of trains or anything.

Ha ha wow ultimate burn 8D There aren't many vegetarians around where I live but I know what you are saying. I couldn't care less what someone eats just as long as they aren't making me feel bad for what I'm eating. This doesn't just happen with vegetarians though, it happens with different cultures food and even my friends saying I'm going to become fat and unhealthy because I wasn't eating fruit one day People should really mind there own buisness D:

so puppies deserve more respect then a cow? or pig?
YOU may not be directly harming the animal and putting them into unimagineable conditions, but you're supporting it.
Unless you eat organic/hunt
