why the fuck is god a he anyway???? like, if he created everything including the earth (MOTHER earth) shouldnt he be a she??? like, more feminine? or sexless? i guess i believe in the godess, but in general terms as in an energy that surrounds us and aided in our creation. but it all boils down to cold hard fact! it is physically impossible to 'create the earth out of a lump of clay' or whatever. like, where would the clay come from in the first place?? i dont think ive got my 'facts' straight here with relation to the bible but all the same be it metaphor or not, its all a load of shit!

(reply to sheepo @_@) yeah the bible is a big fat hypocritical contradiction! first they say dont murder, dont kill etc. and then 'God' starts SMITING people coz they dont belive in him!!!!!!!! he says "theyre goin to hell coz they dont believe in me na na!" then he goes and kills them all like "haha told you so!" then he forgives them. so why do what the commandments tell you if you will be forgiven in the end???? (yeah you might have noticed i go to christian private school and have 3 chrostian studies lessons a week. most of these questions i asked a pastor at my school and he got all shitty wif me )

I dunno about the lump of coal but as for God being a woman or a man to me she/he is simply everything and anything,whoever wants to worry about what everything is can do so but nothing will ever be answered. In my opinion there is a God I have seen to many beautiful things and have expeirenced to many beautiful things to just believe there is nothing.

Actually, I like to read, you see? And I was honestly that bored, that I read the bible. I was kind of interested in it, anyways.

But in school, we read, well, used to read, cause I'm not in school anymore, we used to read it all the time in religion. Like, I would have read more than half the bible through my years at school, because I go to a catholic school.

Oh, and one of my friends, he's so religious, and I'm sure he would have read it. He watches religious movies on the religion channel he gets on cable, too.

Hmm i see some of you don't like Christians and all. I believe in God. i think you're just seeing the bad side of Christians. not all of them contradict homosexuals, harry potter books, whatever whatever.

i think in this world there are some weird people who use their religions to do something. even christians, i admit. i dont know. they are just weird.

well people can belive or not on their own will. people shouldnt discriminate each other or hate each other just because of religions. if they do so, they're stupid. like the religion war in israel or seomthing. yeah.

I want to read it too, I am interested in it. I have religion classes too, but we never read the Bible. Look, people dont have to believe, but they cant say God is a moron or anything like it. Thats wrong.

I really don’t like how people from time to time use religion as and excuse for doing cruel things. >_< But that’s not really what this debate is about...

So anyway, I find religion very interesting and have studied some of the most practised ones pretty closely. From what I can gather there are a lot of things I don’t agree with in each one. On the other hand there are things that I think are great and that in my opinion absolutely make sense.

So one of the reasons to why I don’t believe in one religion in particular is because I disagree too much. Another reason is that it often is too old fashion. It was good and fair things that improved life back then. But now it’s just conservative in a lot of aspects and the ones practising the religion do not want to reform it (that doesn’t go for everyone of course). I can’t agree with something that is so narrow-minded in comparison to some of the modern thinking (I don’t include every bit of every religion and of course not all modern thoughts are brilliant).

Also I don’t like the idea that you can (not that everyone religious are) give someone/something responsibility for your decisions and actions. Like “it’s written there and there so it’s ok” even if it in fact is morally wrong. (Yes, moral and right and wrong are abstract things but I think you get the idea.)

Yeah, confusing and all. To make it even more confusing I don’t believe that there’s nothing. I like to think that there is some sort of divine power and that everything isn’t over when we die. I simply don’t agree with the existing religions. I don’t believe in religion so to say. That doesn’t mean I can’t believe in some sort of higher power

Personally I think people can believe (and not believe) in whatever they want as long as they don’t forced it upon anyone and use common sense. ^_^

A theist is someone who believes in god. Add the prefix (a) and you get "atheist", someone who does not believe in God. Since you do not have a religion per se but have faith in GOd, you are a non-practicing theist.
