Age: - Gender: Female Posts: 5246 | June 3rd, 2006 at 12:41am girls, even though i don't like to admit, are still inferior in the music world to men. sure, there are many many successful female artists, but the male count is higher. i wouldn't say females are less talented, but, as statistics have it, girls have lower self-esteem so if one guy stomps on them for playing music, they're done.
i'm a guitarist for a band where the rest are guys and there's no difference for us whether we're guys or gals. talent is all that matters. but in the media world, guys are more hardcore and girls have to look a certain way to be noticed at all (whether talented or not). |

I've always wanted to be in a band where its all guys and i'm the only girl and i play guitar and write the songs but don't sing. its like thisweird thing....
But i see what you mean. Even wtih celebrities.. you mostly see the girls getting picked on. The guys get stalked while the girls get the living crap beaten out of them. |

Age: - Gender: - Posts: 40 | June 11th, 2006 at 09:52am Well, I think its because girls have to be whores to get media attention. Also, if they arent beautiful, people don't care about them. But if a guy is not attractive, it does not matter. Some pretty succsesful bands with girls are (some were already mentioned): The yeah yeah yeahs, evanescence, smashing pumpkins, white stripes and janis joplin (in the past) |

But I like the White Stripes, so I figured I'd mention her. I like them too, but it's all about Jack because he's....well, the only one with much talent
neither of them have that much talent. |

neither of them have that much talent. yeah... and at their concert you hear more as two instruments.. why don't they hire other musicians.. its better than a stupid tape.
but the music is still okay.. |

 | June 11th, 2006 at 11:47pm -sighs- Girls, nomatter what age, are usually more in to apperance and guys. And, I agree with the million other people on here, to make it, for females, you have to have an hourglass figure and huge boobs. You have to be a slut. That's pretty much how women have been viewed throughout history. And, nothing's changing! It's really hard for women to make it if you're not a total whore, talented or not. If you're hearts in the right place in you're music, maybe you'll make it. And, yeah, more women are seen in rap, R&B, and hip hop scenes as opposed to rock. There's just a hand full of truly great women rockers,(ie, Janis Joplin, Chrissie Hyndes(I'm half asleep, please correct me if that's not how you spell her name. XD), Debbie Harry..), and a few really good bands with women in the band,(Blondie, The Pretenders, The Bangles, The Go Go's, Queen Adrena..). So. Moral of the story is, women have adopted this idea that they are not as much as equal to men. Thanks to religion and sexists, nothing's gonna change any time soon. |
