Age: 32 Gender: Female Posts: 9656 | March 29th, 2011 at 06:54pm What has age got to do with it?
I know 8 year olds with fantastically wide ranges of musical knowledge/taste, and I also know 40 year olds who are still shocked by the rolling stones. |

Welcome to the REAL world of music. Wow!
I'm getting schooled in music by a fucking 16 year old.
I feel special.
Uhm, at least I find music on my own, and like what I like...not what my older brother likes.
Whatever girl.
Age isn't always key and power. |

To be fair to Dana, a lot of people find artists they like through family/friends. I owe my education in The Beatles to my dad's collection. And in turn I recommend bands to my little brother, some of whom he really likes now.
then again, he sometimes educates me. he told me Plastic Beach by Gorillaz was epic, I ignored him because I thought I knew better... wrong. such a good album! |

| March 29th, 2011 at 07:16pm In all honestly I think I've discovered like, ONE of the bands I like on my own. Everything else has been a friend saying "Hey, check these guys out, you'd probably like them."
Or like Jen, a relative, in my case an uncle, is ENTIRELY responsible for my love of the Beatles, my fav band of all time.
edit to be on topic: nvm idk anything about rap |

Age: 34 Gender: - Posts: 3964 | March 29th, 2011 at 07:49pm I was brought up with a hugely wide range of music. People couldn't believed that I listened to as wide a range of music as I did back as a kid, and I still listen to a wide range now. So yeah age has nothing to do with it.
I've found a load of bands on my own, mostly because my family was never musical. Friends, family and education helped but the majority of the stuff that got me started was stuff I found in music stores or heard and then found out who they were. |

Age: 32 Gender: Female Posts: 9656 | March 29th, 2011 at 07:56pm being a pretty much obsolete human being, i hate to give credit to a computer, but last.fm has pretty much been the most delicious thing for me in terms of ~discovering music~ in the past few years.
i'm starting to sound like an adbot.
92% of teens listen to rap and hip hop music. If you're part of the 8% that rock out every day, put this in your sig.
I miss when people had that as their sig |

I gotta side with Dana on this one, rap does not appeal to me in any form.
