Okay. Why do you guys listen to Rap? Does it invoke an emotional response or something?
Why do you listen to music? It's a pretty stupid question. People listen to music because it's appealing to the ear, or the rhythm invokes a beat that makes you want to dance mainly.
Music doesn't have to evoke an emotional response to be good. It's the melody that tends to make it good. Lyrics matter too, but then again a fine example of how changing the melody can improve a song:
And it doesn't matter how good the lyrics are, if the song sucks, then it's pretty much poetry.
I don't think its a stupid question, really.. it invites a discussion as to Why people might prefer or even like rap over other kinds of music.
Music doesn't have to invoke emotions to appeal to someone, maybe its just something to sing along to, a beat you recognise..
A lot of rap has emotions, I think, and the lyrics are worth analysing, if they're good.. sure, some rap is shallow, but so is a lot of other music, but a lot of it reflects society today, which is interesting.
LOL SEAN. but another reason why people say they hate rap is because they think it makes them punxxxx
OH MY GOD I hate when people hate rap for that reason. I will admit when I was younger I didn't like rap for that reason, but now I just don't care anymore. If any music sounds good to me, whether it's rap or salsa music, I will listen to it.
I actually like Sean Kingston and Jay Sean or whatever his name is. I was listening to Black & Yellow yesterday and it's pretty good. I just don't get why make a song called Black & Yellow. I also like Soldja Boy's Crank That.
