Found it, OK now I remember. I feel stupid

The American version doesn't waste paper. The cool thing is that the beggining of each chapter has a drawing to imagine it better.

No, but the british version of OotP has 766 pages, and I think April told me the American version has over a thousand.

You can't take up 250 pages with a drawing at the beginning of each chapter. Apparently there's loads of space at the end of the page, but we fill our pages out properly.

It's like wtf mate, we could save so many trees if they just printed it the same size as the British version.

And trust the yanks to need pictures as well as words...honestly.

Wow... WTF over 1,000? Are you out of your mind?

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (American Version) has exactly 870 pages.

Really? I swore it was over a thousand.

But even so, that's an extra 104 pages, which is a hell of a lot.

It's quite understandable in German, some words are an inch long.

Yeah, but another hundred pages in the same language, actually, scratch that, the Yanks have some vendetta against the letter 'u' so it should be shorter if anything!

e.g. Favourite = Favorite, Colour = Color and Neighbour = Neighbor.

And, most grievous of all, Doughnut = Donut.

BAAAAAAAAH.

What's the point of the different versions, anyway? Is it really that necessary to put on a different cover? :/
Do the americans take that much pride in their shortened words?

You take pride of raping a beautiful language of its essence then?

*stops before she goes into one*

And for anyone not familiar with REAL English, 'going into one' is like going into a rant. Don't read anything else into it, alright?

I've often found the American covers a bit weird Coolio Much perfer the british ones tbh.

This is really off-topic xD
My favourite quite is still "S'up, Figgy?" because it just makes me laugh.
I was re-reading ootp this morning and I came across another cracker of a quote, but I've temporarily forgotten it.

Yeah, the American covers are just...I dunno. The person draws people REALLY weirdly.

Ohhh I can't remember the quote, but when Harry's talking about his first kiss with Cho, and Ron's all "She was crying? Blimey, you must have been bad," and then Harry says that she was crying before the kiss and Ron's all "What? Who cries when they're about to kiss someone" and then Hermione berates him and says something which involves Ron having "the emotional range of a teaspoon".

Not so much a quote as a rambling of a scene with only key bits remembered, but still, I'm sure you all know what I'm talking about.

The American covers are just.. weird-looking. What the hell is the significance of changing 'philosopher' to 'sorcerer'? 'neighbour' to 'neighbor' I can understand, but is there no 'philosopher' in the American English language? D:

"Just because you have the emotional range of a teaspoon, doesn't mean we all have." lmfao *read it last night*

We are so off topic, but the Scholastic people thought no one would read it if it was called the Philosopher's Stone.

But it doesn't make too much of a difference, because the legend of the Stone goes by both names.
