Frodo Baggins:
Meg, are you a veg?
No
In a sense, I think it would be better for me if I was. And I know from the point of ethics, being an omnivore isn't easy to defend (at least, if you don't go in for organic food and the rest). So I can't really come up with a good argument for it. Neither do I ever see myself having a fully vegetarian diet, even though I think I could cut down on a lot of the meat I do consume.

I know, I just like to blabber on quite a bit
Anyway. PETA. I don't like their campaign tactics. Like this, which I have to admit to finding a tiny bit disturbing.
o.o I know that, I'm just asking, it's a shame you can't show tone of voice over the internet because that way we wouldn't have people assuming the worst all the time.
[font=5][size=90] Oh and on animal cruelty, thats a bit too over the top and it's like animals should be treated like fucking royalty to you people
We're animals as well!
I'm an active member of PETA and you're all making out that we're all compleat nutjobs! So yeh, we can take it too far sometimes but that's what a protest is, it's purpose is to be horrificly over the top to grab peoples attention, war protest anyone? I don't see a mass of people complaining about those. If it's what you believe in them you should have the freedom to express it.
FYI most of the protests arn't about the actual eating of the animals but how they are killed, in horrible ways! Not all meat is perpared this way and for that I'm greatful but by 'screaming' at passing protests is basically 'stooping to their level'. Even though I compleatly agree with animal rights protests.
Tbh, protests and protesters really annoy me PETA is freaking crazy too.

Maybe some things are worth being crazy for, in order to make them change.

Being crazy doesn't make people change, it makes the people you're trying to convince think you're a moron.
Seriously, PETA throwing paint on people who wear fur coats won't make them change their minds, if anything they'll go out and buy a new coat. Mission accomplished, PETA!
The WWF protests in an effective way, PETA could learn a few lessons from them.
But I won't get started on PETA in here, I made a special thread for that.

Well I haven't seen any of either, I have to admit, but I have heard about PETA's. I definitely think standing outside KFC handing out leaflets and stuff is a good idea, cos I'm sure the majority of people have no idea how awfully the chickens are treated for their burgers.
But yes, I won't get you started on PETA!

I've had anemia my whole life and I'm fine.
you should definitely ask him why you need to eat meat. I know B12 is vital for blood cell formation. I don't see how protein plays into this. maybe theres some other mineral?
