But if you get half of your DNA from your mother and half from your mother,
Then how is it that your DNA causes you be gay,
I don't understand that.
Okay, I don't want to compare homosexuality to a disease, but in the same way genetic diseases happen (this is the theory).
Yes, they get DNA from their parents, but it is a basis. If one strand of DNA coils itself in the wrong way, transmits the wrong code, a certain protein doesn't fold the way it should, these microchanges can cause effects on the macro level.
Yeah, I have straight friends that are like that,
And gay one's too.
What does sexual preference have to do with anything?
My point exactly and this is what annoys me about some people. They believe homosexuality is fine but feel that the way to show this is by befriending every homosexual they know in order to display their tolerance, regardless of that person's personality.
If I'm honest, I only have one friend of that sexual orientation, not because I don't know any others but because I don't simply like them AS PEOPLE. It's not that I'm homophobic, or that I don't care about equality, if anything, I care about equality so much that I am willing to treat people as human beings- all the same. If you're gay, straight, pan, bi, trans, whatever, and I don't like you, it has nothing to do with your sexual orientation. I just... don't like you.
Hmm, just for another opinion I am opinion I think I will ask my bio teacher.
See what he says.
btw what science are you studying?
Bio?
And if so, what kind of bio. are you?
Yes if you're interested definitely ask him. I'm basing this theory just based on what I understand from my college-level classes.
Right now I'm finishing up prerequesite general science classes (among others; currently taking 'General Biology 2' and Human Genetics) before I can start my major, I will be hopefully majoring in Wildlife Biology.
I think that being gay means that a switch in that person's brain has been turned off or something and they just like their sex instead of the opposite. They don't choose to be gay. Their brains are hardwired from birth.

What about bisexual people? Is that when the switch gets stuck in the middle?

Yeah. I think about it in that way for some reason.

or maybe being bisexual or pansexual or maybe asexual means you dont have a switch?
It doesn't. I remember Gerard Way saying that he used to cross-dress all the time while he was in art school and he's not gay. He married Lyn-z from Mindless Self Indulgence.
