It's not so much that you've done it, but whether or not you've grown out of it. Pretty much, all of us have done that when we first began. I did it. I admit it and it was BAD! I am ashamed to say that I had wrote that crap. But, I was green and not familiar with the concept of writing a story. I just wrote what I wanted to without thinking about it first.

However, a lot of folks here don't want to grow out of it. They want to keep spitting it out because they have thier little fanclubs and they are members of their fanclubs fanclubs! It's a nasty, clique circle here that hinders anyone from growing and expressing originality.

I find it a triumph when I see an author, I can go to their profile, read their first story, second, third, etc and see a constant improvement. That means they are not a lemming and they have a brain!

Another story trend is reviews. Notice how nobody reviews, they just say that they like the story and they want you to PM them when more is up? Yeah, their nice because they're from your readers, but I would love it if someone pointed out something that I overlooked or tried to guess the next chapter. I don't want a praise fest, I want to know what my readers are thinking when they read my stories. I try to do that when I find a good story. I don't know if it helps them, but it might.

About the commenting thing Pickle, (If you even still read this thread) It has become hard (especially on Mibba where the community isn't as close as the GSBians were (I've met GSBians in the real world and we've become friends on that fact alone, something I could never do with a fellow Mibbian) but people get offended if you point something out that they over-looked. They immediately turn defensive and get mad at you saying “If you don’t like it don’t read it!” when all you were trying to do was point out one small mistake they may have made.

People need to lighten up a little and accept help from others. How do you expect to improve your writing if you don't?

I gave a story a bad rating one time. The next week, she deleted the whole story and resubmitted it. Then someone gave her a bad review and she was all "Then don't fucking read the goddamn story if you don't like it!"

But it has become so hard to find one single GOOD Green Day story that I’m going nuts!
You could read my one shots. Meg A lot of people seem to like them. Happy family moments. 297 comments, 50 subscribers, 9 stars...blah.

Getting back on topic, I'm sick of all the people posting with bad punctuation. It drives me nuts when people put exclamation marks after almost every sentence. And the caps abuse. Cheese

I think The Communion and Good Man series are pretty good. Those writers are adults so...

Also my stories aren't half bad

Age doesn't really mean much, in my opinion. I've come across some pretty bad stories from adults, and some pretty great/well written stories from younger people.

^ yeah.

Age doesn't mean better. I know some people my age who write 24539485720 times better than alot of published authors.

Maybe I should have clarfiied myself a little.... About 1/3 of the younger writers are beyond amazing writers while 2/3 of them couldn't write their way out of a paper bag.

Out of the older folks here (I know of roughly 5 or 6 that are writers here) the majority are amazing writers.

I hope that clears up what I meant....

Okay there's a few story trends that have been bugging me.

1) The trend to name your story with the longest title ever, and not even use capital letters.

2) There's been an increasing amount of MCR/FOB/P!ATD slash. I look through Mibba and all I see is this Frefard or whatever... people can write what ever they want, but there's gotta be hundreds of the stories, with basically the same plot lines.

I know on GSB everyone was getting fed up of Green Day stories, but I hardly actually find a story good enough to read that's a Green Day story... the ones I find I've either read before or r all tiped rly werrd.

Waycest creeps me the fuck out, tbh. But...whatever floats their boat, right? Even if it is highly disturbing. Coolio

....I admit it. Cheese I was completely horrible at writing a couple of years ago.

Just recently something went off in my head, and I was like, "Hey! These people write so much better than I do. Maybe they could help me?"

So, now, whenever I post something on Mibba, I get as many people that I know to look it over. On my summary pages, I practically BEG you to criticize it to your hearts content, because I know that I'm still pretty bad and that these people can help me. So far I've PMed one person that really helped me. I mean, plot and execution kinda stuff. Everyone automatically assumes that I want spelling/grammar help. But the truth is, I have an uncanny knack for spelling. tehe And I'm pretty good with grammar. So, she really helped me out when she PMed me back with all the plot stuff. Very Happy It literally made my day.

With that in mind, I'd like to say this: I hate it when people don't want criticism. It was said above, and I bet it was said earlier in this thread as well, but I'd like to repeat it, because it feels like the only thing I'm really contributing to this post. Smile If I see "If you don't like it, don't read it!" It gets me all excited and I start nitpicking at all the spelling mistakes. I point them out, in a nice way, and sometimes they are actually received well.

Although, the spelling never gets changed. What I mean by my comments being "received well" is that the author doesn't scream at me when I tell them they made a mistake.

Any form of incest is just wrong and disgusting. It honestly shouldn't even be allowed. It's as bad as child pornogrpahy and all that shit out there.

I read a Waycest once. Only one I've ever read, but it was nicely written.
I tried to forget they were brothers, though. There was no sex, anyway.

I don't think it's quite as bad as child pornography, but it's pretty high up there.

Their's a term for that? Shocked God!

I'm glad I don't go on there alot

How many stories do you think are on Mibba that are NOT Fanfics or Fanslash and/or have an original plot or meaning?

the most original thing I did was making Billie, Mike and Tre Doughboys. XD
speaking of Doughboys, I've gone into the War section quite a few times and I've glanced at the stories and from what I can see, there isn't any war in any of the stories.....
