my parents have been divorced since I was eight years old. I'm sixteen now, but I'm just starting to realize the full effect of what that divorce has done to me. I'm just so emotionally ruined, and I never realized it until now. My father was the one who left us and lately he has started to come around, act like a parent almost. But he only did it because he left the women he divorced my mother for, and now he used my mother and myself again just as an emotional rebound, he's already found an old gf that will have him back. I just can't handle his emotional strain, and it's really starting to effect my other relationships with family and friends. I dont even now what it feels like to love anymore. I thought if I could discuss my situation with others like myself, I could start heeling a little...anyone else have the same problems?

it's all a matter of responsibility
and some people think that they can get married and it won't effect anyone if it's not a responsible marrige

i so agree. I mean, I dont even consider Rick (thats his name) my father. He was the man who impregnated my mother, but he's not my father. That tittle implies responsibility, compassion, and love...something i have never felt from him.

I wouldn't know how it feels because my parents aren't divorced.
In Life Skills we took a count to see how many kids' parents are
divorced and out of 30 kids over half raised their hands.
I agree with spill_no_sick, parents should be more responsible.
Look at what it can do to their innocent children.
And I feel so bad for the kids who's parents make the kids
decide who they should stay with...it really is sad.

If your parents are arguing a lot wouldn't you rather they weren't together? That way you don't have listen to them fight and they'll be happy more often....

my mum and dad are divorced, i was 5 then, and i'm 13 now..well..my mum and dad didn't get divorced cuz they didn't love each otehr or antyhin like that, it was cuz my granny ( my mum's mum), kept gettin my dad and mum pissed, and they agreed that my dad would move away from us and that they should divorce or somethin, that's how i no it. wel, it hasn't effected me, i have good relationship with both of my parents, and they r still good friends and can count on each others help. i live with my mum but i can go to my dad's in summer and on weekends when he isn't workin. my dad married again and i have a baby bro, and my mum had a bf,. but we were total enemies, i showed no respect towards him and no compassion, cuz he yelled at me al the time, u can't come yellin at me, it's bad for ur health if u no what i mean. i yelled back always, he did't like me and i didn't like him. well, i'm happy my mum freed herself from him. ok, g2g, long sotry already, so um, buh byeSmile

My parents are still happily married after 13 years, so I can't really comment on divorce much, because I don't know how it feels.
But when it happens to someones parents its really sad for the child. I mean they have to be both ends... Its kind of like when your friends fight and your stuck in the middle.

My mom has been divorced twice. The first time she had my older sister Stephanie who's 23. The second time she married my dad and had me and my little sis. (we're 11 and 13) I think my parents got divorced in Jan of second grade. So I was either already 8 turning 9 or turning 8. For me it was an easy divorce. My parents are still friends. I go to my dad's house every Wednesday and every other weekend. I'm not saying I like my dad all that much but the divorce hasn't been that big for any of us.

But that has left me and Stephie feeling that divorce is a part of life. If we got married and wanted out we'd probably just go "Oh ok time for a divorce. See ya!" That's really our attitude towards it since we haven't had trauma come out of it. If I had kids I'd think about it before acting but it still kinda scares me that this is the way I look at it.

My parents are married, but they both have divorced earlier in their lifes. Hmm.. I'm not so sure of what I think about divorce. I don't think that marriage should be taken so seriously as it is taken now. If you divorce, then you divorce. Everyone can do what they like.

getting divorced is a trend now really im mean most my friends parents (inculding mmine) have either gotten divorced by the time they were 6 or right now are getting divorced or never even married... my mom threw my dad out and i hate her for it... she claims he hit me and her ... TOTAL BULL SHIT ... and she's the one who gets me... woo who so happy... i think parents should pat attention to who they marry and be a little more sncitive to what their kids feel about the whole damned thing... idiots... i think it made me a lot angrier and adds to my axiety attacks that are seriouly bad in the first place

Yea, i agree with everyone.

Its actually a fact that divorces are more common than marriages, which is really sad.

What i find ironic about marriage is that it was originally a religous institution, and there using that for the gay marriage fight now, but even athiests get married....

Marriage isnt what it used to be "til death do us part." Whoever said you had the power to undo a vow. To me, marrying another person would be like adultry. When you marry someone by religion its stuck. By law though, i dont know much about it. Which is why I could care less if gays were given the right to have gay marriages, and then the churches can figure out if they will let gays marry within the church. The problem with that is that the law and church mix a lot, and they shouldnt.

I wouldnt know too much about divorce. My parents never have. But I think that if they were one less religous they might, or if they were a little less conservative. WE barely go to church, i want to more, but there are both right wing nut job conservatives.

My family itself is falling apart, without the assisstance of divorce. So, i feel deep empathy for everyone who has to go through that. I really can only imagine.

divorce is mainly for the good of the parents not for the kids... unless the parent does somthing to harm the kid in some way... but still at the time were they really thinking of the kid... i mean i know that parents have to think of them selves as well as the kids but divorce can really screw up a kid... more then it can a parent... and also the parents no the kids aren't happy with the divorce but ignore it... at least mine does a ditto with my friends
