OK, usually around this time of the year, I lie to stay out of the way of all you chikitas because American politics and the ensuing debates can get pretty messy.

But this time around, I am just grossly opinionated, as almost everyone is, about Sarah Palin, of course. I am at my bursting point here. Honestly, did McCain put all the Republican candidates in a hat and pick out a name? If so, he picked the worst choice for a vice presidential candidate ever. She is turning the extended metaphor, so often used by other countries, of American politics as a joke, and making it a freaking comedy sketch. Bush angered many, but brought laughs to the rest of the world as we decided to watch his soap opera of politics unravel. But Palin as president scares me, it's not funny anymore, she can't control her own children from making ill-advised choices, let alone running a whole country, one of the most important countries at that, on the political, economic, and (God forbid) the environmental stage. For the love of God, American women who truely believe she will benefit the country need to actually listen to her, instead of just insisting that because she is a woman, she'll rely on her (lack of) mothering instincts to take proper care of their country. Why leave it to one woman when all women can vote and take things into their own hands. It worries my that some people still think that.

And, yeah, apparently McCain's only met her once before. Surely it would have been more effective to have just brought in a tramp from the street.

It may be foreign media shining a light on the lighter side of American politics, but still, if so, I'm definately not liking what I can only see.

*End rant here.*

Yeah, OK, so I'm an ignorant observer probably with no inkling of what actually may be going on in American politics, I'm totally prepared for some bashing responses, but why oh why then does America lend itself so eagerly to this stereotype of a country run by people who have no clue how to run a country? And also, the elections are the time where most opinions are already formed about each candidate and their running partners, surely a more appropriate first impression would be more beneficial for the elections. I just don't understand! Even Thai politics makes more sense than this, and no one's even really running our country at the moment. So strange, miseading even. It just doesn't make any sense to me, your politicians.

*Re-end rant here.*

If McCain wanted so badly to have a woman be his VP, he definitely should have chosen Condoleezza Rice. I mean, at least she knows about foreign policy. tbh I could definitely see her being president, not Palin.

I know this is pretty mean, but if McCain dies of melanoma or old age or something, we'd be SCREWED having Palin be president.

I've actually been thinking about that myself. I mean...the guy is old. If he ends up prez and then suddenly drops dead, I'm skipping the border.

I don't like either one of them but I'd feel much safer having somebody who knows what he's doing running the place rather than Palin. Cheese

Just thought I'd say this....

McCain was HOT when he was younger. Shifty

I know that has nothing to do with how he will run the country, but I just thought I should point that out. Retard

I know how everyone is saying that McCain is really old, and how they think he's going to die in office if elected...but if anyone doesn't know already, his mom's still alive. And she's nearly 100. I remember seeing her on tv during one of the early GOP debates back in January or something, and she actually looked pretty good for her age.

Just thought I'd like to point that out. Coolio

]Not regarding the war, not that thats anything I really care about. In my opinion we have no business being over there anymore.

Still Obama and McCain both have plans for what they want to do. If McCain was elected, then dropped, and Palin took over...Shocked

That's a pretty broad statement to make without backing it up.

Well, he hasn't been in government very long, only like 2 years. Since he ran for president he couldn't be at a lot of the senate meeting in the past couple of months. So, what experience does he have?

Sarah Palin was on a city council, a mayor, and a govenor. She has been doing govermental stuff since the mid 90's. Obama has only been in government since 2004.

I don't care, to be honest, Obama is incomparable to Palin. Palin may have been a political science graduate and became a mayor and then govener of Alaska, but she did it all horribly. She has imposed some of the most unecessary laws in the town she was mayoring and apparently Alaska is in a financial pickle because of her. She most certainly has less of a clue of how to run a country than Obama does. And she certainly won't do a thing for international relations either.

Wrong. Either you're just making this up as you go along or you've been wrongly informed.
Shadow of a Doubt:

...and you think John McCain was? Coolio
Shadow of a Doubt:
Sarah Palin was on a city council, a mayor,

What kind of financial state was that town in after she was done being mayor? Mr. Green
Shadow of a Doubt:
and a govenor. She has been doing govermental stuff since the mid 90's.

Being a Governor for two years (not even a full term..) is not enough experience for someone who has the potential to be preisdent. The fact that as a mayor she left a town in economic and financial ruin should be a pretty good indication she's clueless. The level of responsibility of being on a city council for a town with a population of 5,000 people is absolutely nothing like being responsible for the American population.
Shadow of a Doubt:
Obama has only been in government since 2004.
Ah, earlier you said it was two years so now you're contradicting yourself. Doesn't matter at any rate, because that's a complete lie.
Shadow of a Doubt:
So, what experience does he have?

I should probably answer this seeing as how everything you've stated about Obamas experience is untrue. Obama's career as a state senator began in 1996, and he that position in Illinois until 2004. As of 2005, he has been a national sentator. Prior to any legislative work, in school he studied political science. After that he worked as a community organizer, and he then studied law at Harvard, and he went on to teach constitutional law at a University in Chicago. He was also a member of several board of directors in various Chicago organizations.

But haven't you heard? She knows all about international relations because Alaska is next to Russia! Laughing

Yeah, wikipedia is worse than I thought.

Kurnti:

But Obama hasn't been in Senate long. McCain has. He knows whats going on in the Senate and has been voting on issues for many years, whereas Obama has not.

Fine. I made a mistake. Rolling Eyes

Plus, Palin isn't running for president. I know McCain could die, but if I don't think having Palin has president would be nearly as bad has having Obama as president.

McCain could have picked someone better, but if he thought she was the best than I trust him.

Yeah, wikipedia is worse than I thought.

What wikipedia article are you getting information from, because everything in Obama's is correct.

Shadow of a Doubt:
But Obama hasn't been in Senate long. McCain has. He knows whats going on in the Senate and has been voting on issues for many years, whereas Obama has not.

You're making broad statements again. Specifically, what has McCain done that Obama hasn't? What issues has Obama not voted on that McCain has?

Shadow of a Doubt:
Fine. I made a mistake. Rolling Eyes

Now that we've established he's been in politics for more than two years, why do you think he doesn't know what he's doing?

Shadow of a Doubt:
Plus, Palin isn't running for president.

She's running for the possibility of being President, she needs to be just as qualified.
Shadow of a Doubt:
I know McCain could die, but if I don't think having Palin has president would be nearly as bad has having Obama as president.

Why? Once again, that's a broad statement. What makes Palin better than Obama?

Shadow of a Doubt:
McCain could have picked someone better, but if he thought she was the best than I trust him.

You said you think he could have picked someone better...yet you trust him when he doesn't? I don't understand that. Citizens are not supposed to be obidient to politicians. They represent us. I don't understand why you would change your mind because of a choice he made. Trust has nothing to do with it, in my opinion because no politician is trustworthy. It's all about actions.

Think I've never heard that before. If she did indeed have it, you'd think the Republicans would be playing it up more as experience. I'll have to do some research. Meg

Vice Presidential Debate tonight.
Your thoughts, reflections. Who do you think took a stronger force in argumentative issues?
Biden did a great job pin pointing the issues that really matter for this country. I liked how he always looked at the camera from time to time and said, "Lemme say that again..."
