If I supported McCain I'd be scared too the way the polls are looking. Shifty

Yeah, tell me about it.. But if he loses and William Russel beats John Murtha for Congressman for the 12th district of PA (where I live), then I'll be happy. They are really close, so it's looking hopeful.

So a week or two ago Palin came to my city. And apparently there was a bunch of "racist" comments being made by the people waiting in line. There was also McCain/Palin protesters outside. Here is a video on youtube of some of the comments.

They made the biggest deal about was the stuffed monkey that guy had. People said it was racist. But here is what I have to say: How is that racist? If Obama was white and they called him a monkey it wouldn't be racist. He looks like a monkey, so what. People say Bush looks like a chimp. That's no different.

I love living in Johnstown!!! Those McCain supports are so right and not racist. Well, one or two of them might have said something racist. Like, "Go back to Kenya." But for the most part they are right. I wish I could have gone. Some of the people said comments that made me lol. My favorite comment was, "We'll vote for who we want, this isn't an Oprah show." lmfao She's right though.

If I'm not mistaken there is more arguing going on between people here than when Bush came in 2004. I went to that. T'was amazing.

But thanks to all that stuff, Murtha said that Western Pennsylvania's were racist which made him go down in the polls. Which means William Russell has a chance of beating Murtha, which has never happened. I want to see the day were people just vote Murtha out. I don't want him to retired or die in office. I want someone to beat him in an eletion.

I'm just curious, what part of "Go back to Kenya." was right? Confused

And I'm not sure how the second comment made any sense, being a joke or otherwise.

You're right, if he was white it wouldn't have been racist. A common old racist suggestion was comparing people of African descent to being primitive and unkempt, and they would consistently be compared to apes from Africa.

It's all as accurate as the Nazis saying that Jews ate children. But it's still a racist slur, outdated or not. I'm not saying that that was the purpose of that guy holding that stuffed monkey, but if he had enough sense to concentrate more on the topics of what's actually important in this election, over joining in with the ridiculous slurs being thrown around and wasting this cruical time like 90% of the people interested in this election, he might not have had to deal with the backlash.

The only problem I have with this election is that people are starting to act extremely immature and completely ignoring the reason that these things are conducted. I don't want a saint for a president, I want someone who will get the job done.

Racist or not, I don't see what Obama looks like has to do with politics.

That's the thing that frustrates me so much! Only a small percentage of people, 6% of voters say that race is an issue. That's counting both the people who voting because their candidate is their race, and not because they aren't. What's even worse is when they start using words such as "socialist' and "imperialist", because the majority of what is being said of both parties is without any proof.
I hate the way people vote, and if electoral votes weren't so dangerous in my opinion, I'd mock the popular vote, as most people look at elections as they would a football game. They love to fight, and they hang onto the smallest and stupidest...I can't even call them "factors", that sway their vote. They don't care who can do the better job, they just want someone in office who they think they could be buddies with.
Abraham Lincoln was hated by everyone when he was elected. They made fun of his appearance and made songs about the way he talked. That didn't stop him from saving the US from splitting into two countries.
People need to learn the real issues.

The monkey has a shirt on that says Curious George. In other words, he doesn't know what he is doing. It's not all about the looks thing.

Also, if it has nothing to do with politics then Bush looking like a chimp was stupid because it has nothing to do with how he ran the country.

Actually, here's a whole site about it:

But you're right. Two wrongs don't make a right.

tbh I wouldn't be surprised if voter turnout is over 70% this election. Maybe 75%. It's going to break records.

In the past it's been pretty pathetic, only two thirds of registered voters voted the past few elections, and only 47% of all all adults.

Racist comments are ALWAYS funny. Great jokes.

Really. People need to stop saying shit about Obama because he's black. Skin color shouldn't matter. I can't stand when people say they won't vote for Obama because he's black. It's stupid. You'd rather have more of Bush than some needed change?

k. I'll stop ranting now. (;

Oh please, you and I both know that's total bologna and you're making excuses for their racist comments.

If they wanted to imply that Obama was clueless there were a million other ways they could have done that without using a notoriously racist symbol for deragatory views of Africa Americans. Not to mention that fact that the crowd of people in question are clearly not the most dignified and respectful lot, seeing as how they're ignorantly screaming for him to go back to Kenya, calling him a "muslim" as if that would be insulting if it were even true, and comparing him to Osama Bin Laden.

I can honestly say those have to be some of the most disgusting, ignorant people I have ever seen in my life and honestly, it's morons like that who give Americans in general a bad reputation.

I'm not sure what I ment. I guess because they were calling him a socialist. He is on the brink of that (I think).

Also, the protesters were provoking them. I'd be pissed too. But I'd keep my mouth shut. As far as I know, when Obama and Bill Clinton came there were no protesters. (There probably were though.)

The other thing I have to say about that video is that you only hear what the McCain people are saying. You don't hear what the protesters are saying. It could be bigotry too.
