Yes it is as dangerous as people think, If you don't be careful then you can think your in love with somebody you have never met face to face or be addicted to websites and block yourself off from the rest of the world

but people generalize it

many adults think myspace is bad - its not

it only is if YOU let it get that far
if YOU set up a date or a meeting with someone
its YOUR fault if you are raped ect.
its isn't myspace , its is only the way of communication
AIM, YIM, MSN, are no different

people think its such a bad place and anyone you talk to is lying

i am how i say i am , a 13 year old from MA
if someone wants to come get me , they will have to do alot of research/hacking because i actually think , i don't tell people to much personall info

so no, its not

You don't have to do any hacking, I could tell you what part of MA you're from in about 5 seconds. IP codes tell everything.

thats what i meant Wink

and i don't really worry , especially with this site
i've been hee long enough to get to know and ''trust'' alot of people
that doesn't mean i'd meet them ... i jsut don't care if they know i'm from mass

It is if you choose to meet someone.
I mean, I trust that alot of the people here are actually who they say they are. I'd like to meet them, but I know I can't.

Simplly talking to someone. No.

but if you decide to meet someone off the net, or give them Personal information like Phone number, or address or something then Yes, the risk of it being more dangerous is a lot Higher.

Those survey things on MySpace and Xanga and such, pretty much all of my friends have one on their page.

Most of them actaully ask your full name, height, weight, age, eye color, location, blah blah blah.

Those things scare me.

I set my profile to private, and keep my information safe.

And i check peoples myspace before I press accept.

I'm pretty much safe.

but the thing is ..... you don't need to put all of that real info
i lie on those things all of the time
hell i usually put some celeb's last name (as though i'm married to them Rolling Eyes Laughing ) and age i put some ridiculous number

there are ways to get around thsoe things

and some sites require REAL zip codes, if so i put some random one
usually a known town nearby

.. you can lie about stuff like that... but with an IP code you dont have to tell them anything, it tells them all that stuff about your location. I dont think its as dangerous as some people like to think, not every single person is a rapist or something, but you guys are making it out like there is no danger at all. yeah, there is, you have to decide if you're willing to take that risk and know about the sites you're on.

talk on the phone?
that seems more dangerous
they have your phone number or the opposite
they can check thier phone records and get your number back

I have this program that can track down all of your IP addresses. Razz Cool

I swear, I don't use it...but I caaaan. Wink So you better behave.

It's really cool, cause then it pin points exactly where your computer is. I don't know how I got it, I just know I have it.

Denends how far you go, like if you organise to meet them, which i npersonally wouldn't do, but people can get your ip address easily, like on piczo when someone leaves a comment your ip is left, i wouldnt do anything bad with it or anything, but it can be left that easily

But how can you tell? I mean, they may seem perfectly normal at first, and they build up your trust, and then they start asking more personal questions, and because you trust them, you answer the questions.

I was pretty stupid, I gave out my phone number, my full name, my address to some people on the internet. I had never met them before. And then I flew up to Brisbane to meet them. They turned out to be real people, and not peadophiles, but it was still pretty stupid.
