i think that with legalizing something it comes with marketing, blah blah blah, and probably some kind of code from the government to make sure that by legalizing it they made disease worse, people arent that stupid.

as for the moral of it, its wrong, completely. no question. what should be in question here is not the protistues themselves, but rather the people who go to them.

I'm going to have to agree with...masterbation crossdresser if they make prostitution legal people won't flock to pprostituition. Only the same people will continue the act of prostitution. They wouldn't care if it ws legal or not. Well, about 90% of prostitutes have pimps and make only about 5%of their pay. About 70% of prostitutes are regularly raped so I'm not sure if prostitutes will stop rape...

Well, this is hard.
Since I am firmly against the government censoring our everyday lives, I am tempted to say, "Yes. let there be prostitution. If you don't like it, ignore the prostitutes." And yet, as a product of a mostly christian home, i am tempted to say, "No, prostitution is wrong."
I am, however, ggoing to side with the 'ignore it' urge. Does it affect me if some 50 year old man goes and buys sex? no. So let him go ahead and do it. So, I support the action. Should it be registered? Yes, and they should have to be sterilized, or otherwise file forms to not be sterilized, as crack whores do not usually produce good babies.

well since it's been legalised the government should provide them with health checks. like, regularly, and those who don't meet health standards should be stripped of their license (this is where the registering bit is useful). i realize there is a lot that could go wrong with this idea i.e. doing illegal prostitution anyway, not showing up for the health checks, but hey, that guy is right, there WILL always be prostitution like it or not. might as well TRY to make it a bit safer for the sick fucks who use whores like that

I think it's a bad idea. I also live in New Zealand, and while I wasn't outraged, I don't exactly like the idea of prostitution being legal. It's supporting young girls to think 'what does it matter if my grades aren't good? I can always be a prostitute!'

i couldnt ever be a prostitute myself, I would just feel so cheap having all these middle aged business men fucking me..... nope

I dont think it should become legal but people will do it anyway...I do however think that if it is legal they should have some form of registration and have to have regularly scheduled checks for diseases...porn stars have to have regular checks why should prostitutes be any different

actually asshole, if you'd bothered to read other people's responses, you'd see some of them actually agreed with my friend the guy who thinks the laws were acceptable. i didn't come here asking if everyone agrees with prostitution, i asked about the legalisation of it. and i also put forth an idea, see?

It's true, you can never stop prostitution. But I still think it shouldn't be allowed. It's just not right, even if the person thinks it's the only way of getting money, there are other options. Plus, it spreads STI's or STD's, which ever one you say.

I don't understand why so many men like it? Well and women, but its mainly the men. I personally think that prostitution is wrong, and prozzies should face a very long sentence if they get caught.

The thing about prostitution is most girls dont want to do it. They dont think this will be a new easy job. A lot have a drug problem and others just have no where to go. With no educatiuon getting a job is not that easy. Once I read about a girl who ran away from home and was sleeping on the street and had no where to go so she started being a prostetute and she talked about how awful it was and how she used to cry cause she was ashamed of herself. As for legalising it I would say no because as so many woman have fought for so long so woman are not treated as objects. This would just be one Giant leap backwards.

yeh i know someone who's mum is a prostitute and she said that she wanted to go on the game and go and live with her mum when shes 18 her mum has 8 kids all by different guys

i don't really know, to tell you the truth. i mean, if they take the proper saftey procautions, i guess it's okay. i mean, people do have to make a living, and you can never stop prostitution, people are still doing it behind closed doors.
