What Has Green Day done for you?/ being punk?

What has becoming a Green Day fan done for you? What has being punk done for you?? Has it brought you courage,or has it taught you to be yourself? Whatever it has done for you, you can tell others here and see what being punk does for different people.

Being punk has taught me to be myself and not give a shit what people think. It has given me a sense of idividuality and freedom.

Green Day made me emo.

And ummm Green Day introduced me to more bands
but most bands will do that for you
they've made my love for music greater and I'll always admire them

Hmm...what has Green Day done for me...*ponder*

-Introduced me to all the music I liked along time ago
-Showed me that it's good to be yourself
-Made me about a hundred bajillion times more interested in music
-Lots more that I'm just too lazy to type! =]

Green Day have helped me through some of the darkest moment of my life. Introduced me to many of the bands I like now. Given me a sense of purpose and individuality.

Green day:
Gave me another reason to live for muzik!! (if that made sense)
Taught me that there are m people whos been through worse things than I have

Punk:
Gave me a sense of individuality
Taught me to be me, and to not give a crap about what people think of me, and why they do

I listen to punk but i'm not punk.
Green Day hasn't really done anything for me, really.

being punk honestly made me MISERABLE. getting out of that was one of the best things i ever did for myself. that music/lifestyle just had me dwelling on everything i hated, even though i couldn't control it at all, hating things i would have otherwised loved, etc. basically, it was a bad time, and i would never want to re-live it. if anything, getting AWAY from punk is what did a lot for me. people say punk is freedom, well, i say that true freedom comes from realizing that it's not. freedom's a mental thing, not something based on the clothes you wear, the bands you listen to, or even the beliefs you advertise/subscribe too.

green day completely changed my musical taste.

i went from listening to pop stations to liking the clash, the ramones, the sex pistols, operation ivy, the network, the living end, the phenomenauts, elvis costello, flogging molly, nirvana, ect.

And i threw away my poppy pink elementary school clothes and started wearing ripped jeans and lots of black. 9 Green Day shirts. 2 Green Day jackets, one Adeline jacket.

And, I started listening to Live 105, a Bay Area alternative radio station. This started when I found a Live 105 sticker on my shoe after my first Green Day concert. Listening to this station opened me up to so many more bands.

Green Day made me start learning guitar. I gained new friends, joined new websites, spent more time in Brkeley and Hot Topic. I joined the idiot club, I found out where Billie Joe lives, I met Tre Cool, I go to Mike's Cafe.

And that is how Green Day changed my life.

Green Day helped me find a new type of fashion. My mom hates what I wear, but I don't really care about her feelings right now. I never really started to change myself until I was about 9, and I have liked Green Day since I was either 3 or 4. They inspired me to play the guitar, and to want to be very musically "talented" I started to listen to a lot of bands very like them and learned about punk history, their music really has done so much for me.

I'm not really punk but Green Day gave me the courage I lost when I was 12 to be myself and stand up againt people who try to stand in my way. Also it introduced me to what real punk sounds like like the 70's stuff instead of all the pop rock shit I thought was hardcore ._.

I'm so punk it's unbelievable, yo
