I find it funny that people hope that she'll be the puppet for Bill when actually hillary was the driving force behind the clinton era.
How so?

Benazir Bhutto's death....sucked. Because her father was hanged by Pervez Nawab Sharif and now she's dead too. And she actually tried to move Indo-Pak peace talks forward. Coming back to US elections, the next president has a chance to screw up the Indo-Pak situation really bad.

she would have been brilliant for pakistan but i doubt the president would have allowed it anyway.

she was his first confidant, he relied on her opinion more than anything else. She drove his political career just look how they met he was on his way to being a lawyer she steered him to the white house because she knew his image was what the people wanted.

When it came to foreign affairs in major political movements in the 90's Hillary was used, now i don't know exactly what a first lady does but to put it bluntly i don't even know what the current first lady is called...(.but i wanna say laura Laughing ) which shows how much more of an impact she has.

she is a brilliant women and no doubt intelligent but as a president she'll be no better or worse than the rest of them, which i guess is as equal as you can get

The first lady does nothing, her opinion doesn't matter. She wasnt elected, so she makes no salary and doesn't represent anyone. She's married to the president, that's it. Think Everyone says Hilary has all this political standing and influence over Bill.... but I really don't think she does. For part of the time he was president, she was barely ever around the White House because she was a senator, which has political experience by itself, but it isnt the same as running the white house. Everyone says she has all this important, but they can never name anything she did, and I could give you several things she tried to do that failed. (health care plan she propose, white water contrevsy,

Im not saying she isn't smart, I mean she did go to Yale after all, I just don't think she was as politically prominent as everyone thinks she was.
And yeah, it's Laura. I found that out a few months ago... this whole time I've been calling her Lauren Shifty

I doubt that the position of prime minister would have had much standing if she were elected because they weren't exactly close pals, he still had the authority to overrule any policies ect..

However she did have the backing of the united states making it very difficult for him to call off the elections in the first place now we have the problem of her son being put up to become party leader and because of what will be a sympathy vote, pakistan could see a teenage prime minister take office. (for about a week before its over turned)

so in one word.
chaos.

Think I never thought about that. They don't have some sort of age limit or anything?

because it wasn't her going out and doing things herself because people would have told her its not her place (and it wasn't) she went through bill, she had a say in many of his convictions, good and bad.

I know that after the death of diana in England when we were close to over turning the monarchy and disrupting parliament, hillary was an advisor to Blair and her influence stopped the country going into turmoil. I'm not that up to date on american politics so i couldn't give you an example of american influence but with the health care plan, she took steps and tried i guess. havn't seen others do that. Saying that we have free health care and its so shite me and will have gone private. Laughing

Can you provide any examples of specific things she did to influence Bill on those convictions? Everyone says she helped, but no one can provide any examples, they just say she did it. That isn't good enough for me when someone is running to be president, they need concrete evidence showing exactly what makes them a good candidate, "I helped my husband" just doesn't cut it. However, advising Blair in situation like that would cut it and be a valid point to make.

Free health care just never quite seems to work out Think A bunch of senators have been propsing stuff like that here lately, but it never even usually makes it to vote in congress. lmfao Its really sad that making our health care free would actually make it worse than it already is.

Well, of course this is where the contraversy comes in of who killed her. They aren't even sure how many people were in on the initial attack, and her family doesn't trust the government to perform a formal autopsy. And I've seen dozens of different sources and a lot of different variations of events depending on which news channel I'm watching; BBC, CNN, NBC, ABC, etc.

lmfao

My favourite was the New Years Eve specials they always have where they 'take a look back at what happenned in 2007' and Fox, NBC, CNN all have this American news maybe a little bit of the Middle-East thrown in here and there and even look at celebrity news. Then ABC and BBC and TNTV hit back with all this negative anti-American news, blaming them for everything that's gone wrong. It's interesting to see how each individual news station construes the events in their own favour.

I would also like specific instances in which she helped. I mean, I know wives do advise their husbands, but I really don't think that qualifies them to do their husband's job. I mean, if my mother giving my father work advice qualified her to do his job, then she should also be managing banks and whatnot.

Iowa in two days! I've actually lost interest in it now due to all the hype. I'm looking forward to New Hampshire; McCain is leading for the first time in a long time, good for him.

If I hear the words "Iowa caucus" or "the road to Iowa" again I will scream.

Do the candidates really think that going door to door in Iowa will help them. Mitt Romney did. Do they believe that going hunting will help bost their popularity with the locals. Mike Hucabee thought so.

Every state should hold their primeries on the same day. It would make things easier, and equal out the playing field instead of Iowans (maybe that's what their called) getting pounded on day and night for three months by ad campaigns. Whoever wins has to govern the whole country not just Iowa or New Hampshire or New York.

I'm very interested seeing who'll win in Iowa. All the democrats have been in a dead-heat for ages, so it'll be nice to have it somewhat settled after all this hype.

Not long had an election in australia. all the media crap and the amount of ads were unreal. 6 of the longest weeks Grr , alot of australians stopped buying newspapers and turned the tv off. i feel sorry for for all the misinformation you americans are about to be subjected to. months and months of party propaganda. good luck.
