Music Piracy

I do have a file sharing programe, but i dont liek to use it much, its slow and i feel bad.. cds are always good anyway

i download partly cause i cant actually get the original cds. my mum doesnt see the point of buying cds when you can download them for nothing. id prefer originals but if i have spare money i buy them

Not necessarily, look at Sandi Thom, she made a name for herself from posting her music on the internet.

i donwload and i will also buy the cd's from HMV, that way i can have my copies in the car and keep the originals in good condition.

i still occasionally buy cds when i have the money... downloadings good so you know whether or not to actually buy the album

myspace, pure volume, the official website, videos. all have music from the album on them. so you dont have to download to hear some of the album.

But in the end if I like I do always tend to buy.
I can't put the music on my iPod {copyright} etc anyway.

Exactly! But people nowadays find this specific exercise hard:

1. Get off the computer.
2. Walk into the car.
3. Drive to the store.
4. Pick up the CD.
5. Take it to the register.
6. Pay $15.
7. Take bag to car.
8. Drive home.

Actually, I've come to like some MP3 players. It's just your choice whether to use the downloading program it comes with. What I do is, I go out and buy a CD, listen to it on my CD player for a while, then put it on my MP3 player. It's those damn iPods!

Mp3 players are a lot more convenient to me, because I like to listen to my mp3 player when I'm on my way to school, and I carry it in my purse. And I like to change bands a lot, so I would rather take a hand-sized device than a CD player and all my CDs.

iPods are great too, you have to buy the song(s) from itunes or off of the original cd inorder for it to show up as an artist .... if you get all weird about stuff like that you purposly buy a song you may already have so it shows up

i think it's bad you know, my country is in third place of the most piracy countries.. that's embarassing, that's why i only buy original ..well... i only bought 2 cds non original

I understand how downloading music and stuff like it is wrong, how its stealing. But we have all had that feeling where we only like one of the artists songs. Example: 'I just heard Song A by Artist 1 and i really didnt like it. I like Song B, though. Everytime i hear it on the radio, i just want to dance.' So if you only like Song B out of 13 songs on a CD, i dont think its wrong to download it. If you do like the band/artist and you like a lot of the songs, they've done, i think its wrong to download entire albums. If you just heard about a band and you need to know what they sound like, if you like them etc, i often download a song or two and if i like their sound, i will go down to the record-store and order one or more of their albums home. Thats my view.

I get why its considered stealing. But I do it. I almost downloaded all of the albums I own. The original ones I have I got, the only one I bought by myself is Sandinista! I get that its not fair, but I cant really aford all the CDs I want and I can get them for free. And I like a lot of unknown bands and I cant really find their albums anywhere!

Well, I discover a load of new bands throught the net, and it's not always possible to find their album in stores.

So I then download songs.


But when I know it's possible to find the CD [mainstream band], I'll save a little and buy the CD.
