you guys make it sounds like marriage is a bad thing
and it also depends if you mean planned or unwanted pregnancy
if a couple are ready to have a baby together...it seems strange that they would do so without getting married, surely that's the first step towards building a strong family?
but i think that if the pregnancy was an accident or a result of rape, people should not feel pressured to get married...it wont make any difference to the situation

i don't see any problems with it...

but years and years ago... people had huge probelms with it. i am told, that back, hundresds of years or something, that if you were a Female Jew and you got pregnant and were un-married, bascially you were stoned, so they got killed aswell as their unborn baby.

My mother still has a problem with it. My friend's sister was already pregnant when she got married, and my mum was disgusted.

I think that what matters is as stable relationship. A bad marriage isn't preferable over a stable defacto relationship for a child. Thou a marriage is the symbol of a stable and permanant relationship, that isnt always true.

I think lots of my family members, my aunt for instance, would be disgusted too. But she's erm... I think narrowminded is the right word..

hmm i dont plan on getting married myself.. just seems so old fashioned. its more of a financial agreement in our society with the amount of divorces going on. more families are having children without getting married.. its hardly necessary.. and no longer 'improper' to have children out of wedlock.

a lot of my friends parents are not married. and those who aren't, and still are together, have been for a number of years. so i don't think it matters at all.

I don't think it matters that much. as long as the kid is well cared for then its ok. besides, there are kids with married parents worse off than kids with unmarried parents.

Hey. Hey. Let's get back to the cat!! Aw, cute cute cute.

Anyway, I wouldn't have a kid if I wasn't married to someone, but I don't want a kid anyway...so I really have no reason to post here.
